I took @Kawastyler up on his offer to buy his molds and have him teach me how to build his hull. In February I went to Germany for 2 weeks and spent 12 of those 14 days in Andy's shop for 10-12 hours a day trying to cram as much knowledge into my brain as I could in the limited time I had. For anyone travelling to Germany, don't eat street meat late at night. I had a Donair after a late night infusion and spent the next day in bed and on the toilet with food poisoning. I could have stayed in Germany for months and still not learned all of what Andy has to offer, the man is a genius in not only composites, but it seemed like all things. I could have spent the first few days looking at all the different cars in his shop, not to mention all the jetskis, parts, motors and everything he has laying around. I just hope that I gained and retained enough knowledge to do his Trixstar S hull justice.
It has been a steep learning curve for me doing it on my own after I got back home, one of the hardest things has been sourcing materials and products of the same quality that Andy was using in Germany. Some of the stuff I could not even find in North America and had to have it shipped from Europe. All of that, plus some shipping delays and confusion and I'm finishing up my first hull a lot later than I had planned.
I have all of the parts for my first hull finished and should have inserts in and decks bonded in the next couple days and then my Dasa 1200 set up is going in it. I can't wait to see what this hull can do with a big motor!
Here are some pics of the parts, straight out of the mold, most have not even been trimmed yet.
