hi all, noob here.
my buddy brett got me hooked on jetskiin, perticularly in the surf. i used to surf but stopped after a few years, havent been in the water scince. past few months brett has been letting me use his sn and it convinced me to get a ski. after learing how to ride and watching videos on the internet i have been dreaming of a blue SJ. around here skis arent super easy to get ahold of, especially for a good price. i figured i was screwed to ride some clapped or incredibly old boat but luckly i got ahold of my buddy luke and he knew a guy.

You got a helluva deal.:woot:

Now just put some footholds in there, shorten the handlepole, and seal the stock hood and you'll be good to go.

Sounds like you have everything pretty much covered.

I would wait on cutting the rideplate. I have that same ride plate and I love it. Also everyone who rides my boat say they love the way it handles. First ride it and see if you like it. If you decide you want a looser feel then go ahead and buy a cheap stock rideplate and d-cut that plate and try it. There's no need to cut up that $170 rideplate if you don't even know whether or not you would like it. Hell you could sell that plate for good money then buy a cheap stock plate and you'd have money back in your pocket.

Oh and you also might want to open up the rear vents a little more when you seal up the front vents on the hood to compensate for the loss of air flow.

IMO... the D-cut makes my ski handle tighter.... the ass end is more in the water due to less lift from the plate actually causing it to hook better and throw more water on a cutback ect. ....

One of these days I'll get around to trying a d-cut rideplate on my ski. I have tried them before, but they've always been on other people's skis.

In my opinion I just don't think this guy should cut up a Jet Dynamics plate because

1. You're going to have 2 very sharp pointy edges sticking out:bigeyes:

and

2. Why ruin a good plate when you can cut up a cheap stocker.
