First ride on 94 superjet. Best option turf replabcement and other options

image.jpg Lottsa fun first time on a standup and got up right awAy but bruised all over from lack of padding on turf area.
Best price option for quick replacement?
Just ordered a new spring since my arms were numb after 20 min of riding lol.. Hoping this will lighten the post .
Real sloppy steering on these machines too I felt. More worried about a better ride than power engine upgrades at this point in time

Any other inexpensive options that are a must for a better ride?

Lots of weeds that I had to pull out of the grate when I noticed lack of power, any input on options to prevent this would be great.

Also made a quick homemade trailer in picture and a shore ramp this weekend?.
Thanks

Yes power wise you will be fine for a season or two. The most common complaint I get when teaching someone to ride (usually girls I'm dating ;)) is that there is too much torque...and I'm riding a stock 650.

The sloppy steering is from lack of tray time. Do not worry about that one bit! Eventually you will be able to decide to slide or hook up on the tightest turns. Superjets will not turn for you...you have to turn them.

A pole spring will make the pole weightless and this will help a lot. There are 2 schools of pole tightness. Some like the pole to be very tight so its hard for it to move. You can run it like this without buying a spring. Others (like me) like a loose free flowing pole with the spring holding it up for you.

As far as getting chit in your pump you just need to learn to avoid those areas of your waters unfortunately. Nothing is going to stop artifacts from going through. A trick I learned from a buddy is when your cavitating due to crap in the pump rev the engine really high, hit stop, then start again right away. No this is not great for your plugs!

I have to advice against the pre cut mats especially if using underpadding. From what I understand from research is that they don't always line up that well. It will look better and be cheaper to buy a sheet of turf and a can of weldwood and cut the turf to your tray. Molded black diamond is the most popular turf and sometimes you are waiting on hydro turf to have more made.

Do not f*** with the bright colored turf because it will fade. Red becomes pink after a season, there are pics around this site for proof.

Ya thanks i just got out of the water and realizing the turning carving is more about body weight shifting than the pole itself.. I also fig out that powering out of turns is the way to go.

Still cant keep the ski in the water on straight lines so just keep carving up instead..
Did get some crazy air from a speed boat wake must been 4ft out before i decided to bail out .lol

They cheered ...I bruised my balls..fair trade I guess..lol

My biggest achievement this year is I can essentially wipe my ass with the water at high speeds while in a super tight turn. you are def on the right track. Body lean, hull angle and pivot point. Think of the front of the ride plate as your pivot point. Weight on front foot will losen you up and slide you out if you don't control it, weight on back foot can turn you on a dime really fast with aggressive body lean. Also remember, superjets turn very flat. The bottom of the hull does not like to be at steep angles but you still can get away with it. Just keep NOT going strait like you are. lol. Work on throttle chopping to go fast and keep the boat hooked up going strait. Also leaning far forward if holding wide open. Use that low end power to your advantage. Control the bounce with your low end thrust! lol

Yes keep working on timing boat wake jumps. You can get scary high just by timing it right. Try to throttle chop just before getting to the "trough" of the wake and then smoothly pull the throttle (in a second) through the power band up the lip and lean a bit forward so the nose stays flatter. How you pull the throttle depends on your prop but my boat likes to have a second to be able to pull through the powerband otherwise the prop will spin down low (due to not enough water in the pump) and the jump is lower than it could be.
