Hey guys, new here. First post. Scooty whoop! I've been doing a bit of research the last couple weeks and keep being led back here. You guys are awesome with the info!!

Anyway, onto it already huh??

I'm looking at a 94 SJ that has had the original 701 removed and replaced with a 650. :(
As far as I can tell, this kind of sucks... Which is why the lady's husband did it in the first place. Lol!
It has footholds, tubbies, finger throttle, handholds on the hood, the front where the fuel tank is originally, has been capped.
There is a maybe 4" crack along the area where the fiberglass cap was applied.
I checked compression and heard it run for a few mins, I didn't actually take it out as we were about 50° and raining and I'm pretty sure the Columbia isn't very warm right now. Lol!!

I'm picking it up for $1900. I've been religiously checking around for a SJ and the only other one I found is 8hrs away with some pretty decent engine mods and the 701. But that person has yet to respond, so I'm sure it sold.

Anybody have anything to talk me out of spending this much money on something I know I'm about to fall in love with???

Also, totally forgot to take some pics. So I'll have some tomorrow after the purchase!

Yeah for sure. Ive been all over CL looking. Everything else is 3-9k. Of course they're all a little better shape.
But now the one that's 8 hours away, with the 701 and lots of aftermarket parts has replied and still has it....

1990 Yamaha Superjet. Twin carb 701 motor. Lots of money in aftermarket parts on this ski. Protec cylinder, pipe, intake manifold, exhaust manifold and head, Tau Ceti flame arrestors, Skat Trak impeller, Ocean Pro steering nozzle, Worx intake grate and a Protec ride plate

This is the listing of the one 8 hours away.
Where as the newer one, looks to be rougher shape, and only has an older 650 in it...

Done a bunch of 8 to 10 hour round trips to score the right 'ski. It's totally worth it in the end. Buy a dog because it was "close by" and you'll quickly rue not putting in the extra effort. Score a cherry and you'll quickly forget the efforts to get it as you'll be too busy riding to care...
