first stand up

Im looking at getting a used stand up. I already have a GPR so im not looking at spending much. I found a 1991 440 js for $400. I want to how much difference there is between the 440, 550sx and 650sx. Speed and holeshot. Im 180 lbs would the 440 be too underpowered.

Don't bother with 440's or 550's. I weight 150, and my old 550 would pull 40mph tops. Pick up a 90-95 Superjet, if you can afford it. They handle good, and can be upgraded easily.

Stock 440's are 27hp.... Stock 300's are 31hp (that's right, more hp than the 440!).... Stock 550's are 40hp...... and Stock 650's are 51hp.

Go for a square nose Yamaha.... Lots of parts you can use if you want to upgrade to a 701 and a round nose. You can find a square nose from the $800-$1000 range.

Stick with Kawi 750sx or SXR, Yama SJ. You'll be havin a blast. It depends on your available cash too.

Don't bother with the 440, 550 or 650sx.

I agree completely with everyone about getting a 650/701 SJ. It's the best route and if you're serious about getting into stand ups it would happen eventually anyway, but if you're set on getting a 440/550 i have a 1985 that is in good condition for $400. Located in Jefferson City, MO 65109

i used to have 3 couches, now i have a couch and a stand up...

I personally ride a kawasaki sxi pro, but i have it up for sale to get a superjet... superjet's are way more reliable, and alot easier to work on!

I rode my buddies Kawi 550 last year and thought it was pretty fun! I weigh 180 lbs though! My friends stock 550 and my Stock superjet 650 were about the same topend speed. I think the 550 may have been just slightly faster in a straight line though. The 550 will take a little more practice to ride than a 650, in return that will keep you happy for longer!
I know they are very hard to come by, but if you can find a Yamaha FX-1 BUY IT!!
I enjoy my 1994 FX-1 over my friends 2004 Superjet any day of the week!
