Very cool ski and review, nice to see that one still original today. Too bad Pops didn't design a girdle for that cylinder/head...lol

The very first time I went to Body beach in 2002, Fish was there all by himself, nobody else around. He was so cool and we talked for an hour. He gave me one of his T-shirts and a bunch of stickers too. Such a cool and animated funny guy. On the Octane he had with him at the time he had turf stacked and glued like 6" high on the gunwales so he could use it for cornering/control leverage.

The consensus was they were powerful as hell but handled like crap right?
Yes they were known for their bad handling, they were so damn quick in a straight line that it didn't matter if they were slow on the corners. you were there so much earlier than every one else

Correct me if I'm wrong, please. At this point in time fish was riding an octane but was sponsored by yamaha (or was it kawi, I dont know) and ran yamaha (or kawi) stickers on it.

And this was the same time frame Jacob's was winning everything but I dont know what he was on? I think an RN

As I remember, When Chris was on an Octane, he was sponsored by Polaris.

I remember others (Christy Carlson, Eric Malone for sure) Who were also sponsored by Polaris BUT were on Yamaha's with Polaris decals. Fish may have been on a SJ as well before with Polaris decals. You may be thinking of that......

Christy was sponsored by Polaris before the octane was released, She had prior commitments that she had to keep up so Polaris let her put Polaris Graphics on her Kawi and Yamaha Skis until she had the Octane in her hands. I do not remember Fish ever racing a SJ or Kawi with Polaris graphics. I believe there was a Freestyler in Europe that had his SJ painted to look like the Octane as well. He was a sponsored rider (Again, before the release of the Octane)............ Superjett was sponsored by a Polaris Dealer and had his SJ painted and grapics to look like an Octane as well.

Victor was overseas and they couldn’t get his race boats there in time. They had to throw some make up on a round nose superjet.
