Freestyle Flame or MSD

I'm on the fence as to which one to buy, I like the Flame adjustability (alot) and the fact it fits in a stock E box. But reading that a few guys (ACsales) have had issues with it not working right, bogging and then getting hurt (I have so been there!!!) Maybe I should go with the tried and true MSD TL.
Fresh water, Dasa 1100, running an Epic now and its been good but my stock stator took a dump at the same time I was thinking of adding a TBM flywheel, well if I'm gonna spend that much I should just go TL for the performance right?

Msd will give you best performance, and why do you need adjustment once you have your perfect curve? Wired correctly it will work awesome.

Set up correctly, as with anything, Flame works great

MSD Vs Flame is a personal opinion thing

not sure about the MSD giving better performance? i would need to see data comparing the two to say that, they are both TL but also are different beasts at the same time

There are a lot of guys running flames, but they probably wont post up due to the normal comments that come, its like saying you like WDK sometimes... its not worth it....

if its good enough for Lee Stone its good enough for me

EPIC will work with a TBM but it has to be a GEN 2 TBM

Been running my Flame for three years on two different engines. Never a saltwater problem. Still the original pickup, too

Well both products are awesome. I rund the MSD, that spark is no doubt bluer and more powerfull than ATP FLAME. One can argue about if this will improve effect or not. But ATP launched their new EPIC for testing with better spark energy, so there might be something about more spark energy is better?

I think that is the 5th stator I have heard about taking a dump when using an Epic...

I've had both. If your going to be in the salt I'd say FLAME. If it's a pure flatwater ski I'd say MSD. pretty much any engine builder would tell you a flatwater ski needs MSD. Thats what I'm running now. With both systems only problems I had was pickups going out, i had 2 on the flame go out and 2 on the MSD

I'm not sure I understand the reasoning behind msd being a superior product? Both have light flywheels msd has a stronger spark, while the flame has more tuning and adjustability aspects, pick what you want both will get the job done

Thanks for the replys! We had pickup problems back with racing sxr's and it sounds like nothing has changed possibly for the flame too for some guys. Is there a reason that the msd ring gear on the flywheel wear so fast, that seems to be a common problem too.
