Flat water flip guys. What's your most frequent fail?

I think my ski is Rdy to flip, just curious what you guys that can flat water flip experienced most early on before you got one around. Falling out of the holds? Coming up short? Over rotating n coming off the back? My 42 year old ankles appreciate the insight....:)

Just make sure you are kicked good in the holds, and go for it. I think the setup wake and timing to hit it, is pretty "hard" and harder than i expected when i started FW flips. But you just gotta try and do some variations. Make U setup wakes, try wide and try narrow. Make L setup wakes. See and feel what works for you. There is a big difference when you hit a correct wake at the right time :)

Copy that Christian 83. I have been practicing and a J wake seems to make the nicest curl for me. Too shallow where I can ride locally but I will be in gods country for the holiday n looking forward to giving it a shot.

I haven't stuck a FW flip, but from my attempts I think the hardest part is the timing and set up of the wake, like Christian said.

Edit: just noticed you are in MI, We have a social group on here for setting up rides etc. "great lake state riders" Ill send you an invite.

I was just going to say the same thing Jordan. Even crazier, SAGINAW! We've got a pretty decent sized group here. We mainly ride at Sanford due to it being the nearest lake (can't get myself to play in the river lol). I'll PM you my number if your interested in riding with us @Wiseguy92

I practiced 180's into a flip. My first attempt on circus, i came out of holds, ski flipped perfect and landed in front of me. The greatest fear to over come is ski landing on top of you. It doesnt hurt at all. I choose to wear a helmet when flipping. It takes a while but learn the proper motion and stay at it. I landed my first one a few weeks back on my dvx.

I have heard about the group that rides at Sanford. I've spent a lot of time there myself. Kids came along as did a tritoon so my riding slowed a bit. I built a rack system to get my ski up on the deck of the toon so the best of both worlds now. I would definitely try to make it up to ride with you guys....
Your rite, the river water isn't like lake water!

My biggest fail so far is nosing it in straight down and subbing. Not getting the last few degrees I need to either nose it in clean and ride out, or go further for a flatter landing... (only got one of those so far and it was so cool, I forgot to ride away... I ended up in a tail-stand and fell off to the side!) Only had 2 rides so far that I've been able to try, so very new at this with this hull...

My ski is more than capable... Circus with PHP 940 - I agree that timing and hitting the setup wake is so critical. Also pulling thru in the air, timing is everything. 39 year old knees here are also a bit timid...

I consistently nose mine in now. I'm still using a 180 slide to flip. I can't seem to throw my head back ever...

I seen that vid of a girl sliding 180 n trying them n I thought I would try that way myself also. I know I can get a lot more height off of a wake thou so decided that would give me the best chance to start. Them guys make it look so easy just sliding the tail around n over they go....I know it's not:)

I've tried the slide to flop too. Seems I don't get the height I want with that approach. On the other hand, when I do nail the setup wake in that "sweet spot", it's like a boost that kicks you in the ass! Feel like it's about 2-3 ft higher that way for me.

Very nice. Man the nose went in deep too on the finish n it came around nice. Never thought of the hop 180..... Humm:)
