Flatwater experts advice needed

I have come to the conclusion that i want a flatwater ski. Something back flippable (personal goal of mine) My problem is i dont know the best way to go about.

Should i ...

Sell all my skis to fund the project and start fresh? The money i get from the skiis would pretty well be it for project funding. Not much extra as i have a truck project on the go as well. See signature for ski specs

Sell all my skis and just look for something used thats already done?

Keep all the good parts off the skis i have and sell whatever is left to fund a hull? Not even sure if i have enough good parts to make a flippable ski.

These are my thoughts if anyone has any other routes that may be better im all ears.

Also where i am stand ups are rare enough as it is let alone freestyle skis so my hull choice would most likely be based on reviews and availability or whatever is out there for used. If the guys who have had the chance to ride some of the aftermarket hulls could throw out there opinions that would help me make what would hopefully be the right choice.

Thanks,

The most economical option for a flatwater-backflip boat would probably be a BOB hull and a decent motor. The hull itself can be had for ~5k.
It is said to be flippable with a limited 701 (what you have in the 98), but you're going to have to work pretty hard at it.
Maybe consider converting it into a big bore engine plus mag pump or maybe even stroker.
Or, spend $6k on a lighter carbon BOB.
Figure out what your budget is.
With $5k and a lot of practice, you can get there on your current motor.

I am working on flipping my 56lb carbon Superfreak hull with a 61X/62T big bore motor with total loss and mag pump. The boat is capable, but it won't flip itself. You have to work at it.

I dont have a backflippable flatwater ski ( i wish i did ), but i think if I were to give advice to someone, i'd say to buy a complete (or mostly complete ) running ski from a company/seller. In your case, depending on your budget, i'd sell all your stuff and look for an already set-up BOB with a 701+ from the ski clinic or likewise. Piecing together a ski from used parts is a pain the in arse, and $$. If you use your old boats as donors, your going to have a lot of parts leftover which may be hard to sell.

Oh ya i understand there is still gonna be a lot of work and practice before it will flip, especially since i don't think a big motor will be in the budget. I just need to know the ski has the capability to do it and then the rest is on me.

Depending on your budget, we can build a 865 carbon BOB, replica of mine, for about 20k. Backflips, barrel rolls, 360s and more all day long. Or if thats out of your budget, we can also build a nice 701 BOB for about 10-15k (depending on what AM parts you want). Both are backflippable packages, but obviously the bigger motor makes the flips easier.

Hmmmm.... after reassessing my budget i will most likely be looking for something used but complete or maybe trying to piece something together if i can find a good deal on a hull. As much as i like working on skis, think i would rather find something complete and running but it always comes down to the $.
