Freestyle Flatwater Freestyle Engine Combo Choice

Hey guys
Well was just tempted to change my way of thinking for engines in my BOB Gen 1 coming soon.
Ok So I have a wave runner Yamaha 760. I could have this engine with a 64x ported/honed cylinder by Jetworks
vs:
61x ported/honed cylinder by Jetworks, with 701 pistons/rings. On the above bottom end, I was told it called a 62t bottem end??

Looking for flat-water freestyle, flips, rolls ect...
Tell me what you guys think I was told to go with the ported 701

If it is going to Art then ask him and do exactly as he says. He will steer you to the best bang for your buck which I'm assuming is important since you are not mentioning aftermarket motors.

Sell your motor, buy a cheap stock 701 and have it ported by Art at Jetworks. Best bang for your buck. If money is tight then just ride what you have for a while, and upgrade to something a little bigger when you get the money.

Any ported 701 with 195 psi, bigger carb, total loss, and mag/Solas pump will rip very well. The lighter the hull you put it in, the better.

You might want to rephrase that. There are some really nasty race ported cylinders around back from the mid 90's that are just horrific.

I have seen and rode some 61x/61x motors with just timing , compression, right amount of water in the pipe, just rip... Where you would never think its an old school single carb motor... Best bang for the buck, I have seen these for $250-350 running...

I forgot!
My buddy got a 61/61x for 350 with electrics and enhancer. It was race, I mean "race" ported and it ripped. We had to detune the compression for pump gas and it still ripped hard in a modded own hull.

X2... take Jetworks advice over anyone on this forum. No offense to anyone on this forum but the guy porting the engine can tell you which motor setup he can make the most power out of and if one is better than the other, he'll be able to tell you if the extra expense to swap cylinder/case to a better one before porting is worth it.

The 64x has a 2mm higher exhaust port timing, unless you have the 64x cylinder base decked 2mm and special cut domes to compensate you won't have quite the off throttle snap like the 61x...sj762 had his 64x motor built like above and it made a huge difference in low end snap; 190 plus compression is also essential imo. The 64x can make more power but it will cost more to do it right...

The 64x done right by a good engine builder with dual 46mm carbs makes a ton of power, how do I know ? I rode sj762's ski and it hit's like a mofo.
