Flow Control Brain Fart

When installing the jet works flow control valve in an 06 SXR, is it going to the cooling hose coming out of the top of the exhuast chamber of the cooling hose that is going into the bottom of it?

Thanks for the help

ya I know what you sayin I just put a flow control valve on my 06 sxr just yesterday. With that stock "JetPower" type exhuast I put my flow control valve on my water into the top of the pipe. the top cooling line nearest the bulkhead. I don't know how else to say it without taking a picture and I am going to be lazy : ) hope that helps and I hope I did it right!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you guys want to restrict your water flow before the head pipe. Pretty sure the idea of the flow control valve is to limit water buildup in the water box when at low RPM's tooling around. You don't want it pumping full force into the water box/stinger inlet when your not on the throttle, so this valve, until your water pressure reaches a certain point, will deflect water out a pisser instead of into the box.
You need to install it right before the stinger, with a T connector before the valve. Run the "straight" exit from the T to the flow valve, and the T'd part to your pisser. I think they recommend a 5mm restriction in the pisser to help build up pressure for your valve.
Thats what I gathered from this, just my .02 cents could be wrong. Maybe someone else will chime in with more knowledge.
Edit: Just read those instructions, I was definitely right. Designed for water box water restriction.

Addict is right.

You are not restricting water into the exhaust pipe, you are restricting water OUT of the exhaust pipe but INTO the waterbox.

Find your hose that runs to your stinger and restrict that.

Ok I did know what you wanted to restrict the water into your water box to give you the power and clean your water box out, not the jacketed part but i guess I needed to look around a lil better to hook it up. Thanks for the info ill check mine out. sorry for bad guidance!!

so hmmmm. I looked it over and besides my head pipe which is jacketed. besides that water in there is only that one water into the pipe where it must inject. that is where I put mine. is that bad? i could cut another cooling line and take the flow control valve off... sorry to thread jack but it just became my problem! haha

What kind of pipe are you running..? Does it have a water inlet on the stinger(end of the chamber, by water box)? That is where you want the flow control valve. Factory pipe headpipes have tuning screws so people can adjust flow into the chamber, via the injection holes in the head pipe. Putting the flow valve before the headpipe would not be a good idea, as it would limit the amount of water flowing through your headpipe, if not stop it completely depending on how the valve is adjusted. Haedpipe would get hot as hell, chamber not get enough water, maybe fry a coupler.
I have no clue about a stock SXR pipe, though my guess is you wouldn't have any need for the flow valve on it.

I just re-read your post.. So besides the headpipe, you have one inlet? How many on the head pipe? Is there one going in, and back out of your headpipe? Then another one, somewhere else..? Just post up some pics. If the other one your talking about is on the stinger, then your good to go.
