Super Jet Fly wheel bolt - In a pinch

Location
Peoria, AZ
Just went to put my flywheel on and was re using the existing bolt and it sheared right off. I was able to use an ez out and remove the broken portion from the crank. I'm in a pinch to get the ski done before I leave for Blyth tomorrow. I have a factory Yamaha bed plate to case bolt. Its a little bit longer then the stock flywheel bolt and the head is smaller. If I put a washer on it it will be about the correct length and head/washer diameter.

What do you think, Will it work?

If you want to drive to the East Valley, I have a flywheel bolt for a 701 w/ oil injection, so it has the tangs to spin the oil pump, but it should work ok. PM me if interested.

Wouldn't recommend it
flywheel bolt designed for 47 ft lb torque
bed plate bolt 18 lb

Db
Crank: Medium-high carbon steel
Case: Aluminum
What I'm saying is the torque specs are determined by the female material.

I'd use whatever bolt would fit in there, it's not like it is taking much torque to insert nor is the loading dynamic in ways that a bolt cares.

Only partially true
So your saying that the bolt stretch of a medium carbon heat treated steel
flywheel bolt at 47 ft lbs can be duplicated by a non heat treated 18-8 soft stainless case bolt ?
If thats the case why so many different bolts?
