Super Jet Flywheel friction

I replaced a broken stator plate and swapped out coils from old plate but after installing flywheel, it catches on something which I'm thinking are the magnets on the stator. I made sure the woodruff key was in place too. If I turn the crank hard enough it'll break free so my question is.. can I just ride it out and let the flywheel rub until it sets its groove in, so to speak? I e pulled the flywheel like 5 times already and I'm getting tired out it lol

Def not. I'd take flywheel off, have a look and see where it's been rubbing.

Pic would be good.

What flywheel and stator do you have? 61x, 62t etc.

61x stator is smaller than a 62t so a mis match would bind but doubt you would even get the flywheel on.

It's a 61x. No idea what stator plate I put on but they looked damn near identical. I was able to fit it flush with the flywheel before mounting. It's a slight rubbing and you can tell where it binds on the stator. It's not crazy bad.. Just binds randomly when turning it slow

Ok, have you tried loosening all the coil screws and pushing the coils towards towards the crank center and retighten the screws while pushing ?

I tried that with one cool and it wouldn't budge. It didn't look like I could adjust them at all. I guess I can try it again though. I mean we're talking ~0.1mm out on one coil. That's why my original question was once I start up the engine within seconds it will shave off that tiny portion. I know it's kind of a hack but I just dropped in the motor and really don't want to pull it again :/

if they are all in correctly and the stators not cocked you might use a marker or machinist bluing and mark them around the outside and see which one rubs and leaves a witness mark. Maybe hand adjust that high spot

So I've been researching how to identify X vs T stators/flywheels and decided to pull mine one last time. I can confirm I'm definitely using a 61x (or maybe 6m6 but that doesn't matter) flywheel and stator combo. I loosened up the coils and pushed down towards the center hole on the plate and retightened. Let me know if you have any tips or recommendations before I reinstall. God knows I'm not pulling this thing again lol

That looks rough. I'd scotch bright the flywheel and knock down and high spots with 320 grit, finish with scotch bright...

That stator I'd knock down any high spots with a file then hand sand and scotch bright finish..

Particularly the damaged area on both

loosen the screws, pinch the coils towards the center and tighten. I've ran way more chewed looking stuff than that with no problems and never thought twice about it. if it hits on that one spot, loosen it up and push it away from that spot.
Yeah I aready loosed them all up and pushed coils inwards. Just wanted to wait to get some input before reinstalling. Think I'll sand down and clean the magnets first then put back together. Thanks. I'll upload a video if I still hear the binding.
