Super Jet Flywheel puller

Thaat's braptaastic!
What's a good puller tool for yamahas? I got some 12 buck one on ebay and all the bolts are standard so I had to buy long metric ones the proper thread just to discover that the pointed tip is too big to but into the crankshaft. It hits the flywheel instead... Thing is junk and I can't find ones made specifically for these motors so I don't know what to buy that works well

i just had to remove the flywheel off of my 1990 sj 650 and transfer it to my 701 61x. i used the flywheel puller that advanced auto parts has on their loaner program. worked perfect for me

You can use an old impact socket that fits flush against the crank nose and fits the bevel of your puller. Some pullers come with the bevel while some come with a flat pivot that still doesn't fit inside the flywheel. A simple socket is all you needed for a cheap puller.

Or you could of left the flywheel bolt in a few turns and set the puller bolt against that.

I just purchased one of the pullers that @E350 posted for my 62t SJ flywheel. Has anyone had issues with the holes on the puller plate not aligning for that flywheel? Mine are just slightly off and not allowing me to get straight access to the flywheel threads. Wondering if anyone else has experienced that as well with this flywheel puller on an OEM 62t flywheel?

And yes, I made sure they were the right holes on the puller plate... none of the other ones even come close so I'm confident I'm using the proper holes on the plate.

Yes, @TL91 I had the same problem. I used a bit slightly larger than the supplied hole and drilled it out. My buddy has since used it too. And I have used it a couple of times since as well. Works great with that modification. I had forgotten that I had to make that mod. Please accept my apologies, I should have remembered and stated that issue.

Cool! Thanks @E350 I was afraid that the plate may be work-hardened and that drilling would be difficult, so I'm glad to hear you were able do that successfully then. I'll just plan to do that as well and I've reached out to SBT regarding the issue so they can be made aware of it and hopefully make a slight tweak going forward so others may not run into this issue.
