Foam for heel locks and wedges

I feel like I started a thread for this a while back but can't find it... so sorry for the duplication... Does anyone know what the actual foam is that's being used by XScream and others to make heel locks, wedges, etc? I've done a bit of research and i THINK its high density EVA probably in the 6" range, but the stuff is crazy expensive so I want to be sure before I shell out a few hundred dollars for a sheet. I know I can call various people and buy precut pieces or whatever but with stuff like this I like to just buy in bulk. thanks for any help!

Go to Amazon and search for Yoga Blocks. That is what I have used for wedges in my ski before. They are cheap, so you can buy a few and play around with them

i've tried those but they are too easy to tear for heel locks. I've actually bought those exact ones and they are nothing like the foam the heel locks on my ski are made of. They are considerably lighter as well

Yeah the yoga blocks are a to cheap foam and not dense enough.
I found some long blocks of EVA foam, that seemed to have the same denisty. But im also in Denmark, europe.
If i was in US, i would write to Hydroturf, Im pretty sure they would ahve something you can use

Are yours currently, the ones on your ski, do they feel like the Eva we use under the pf pipe, that type of density ?

not like the 18mm tray padding type density ?

was just curious, thanks

Exactly. They are just like the PFP mounts. They are getting the raw material somewhere!

Hopefully I'm not hijacking this thread too much... I am re-turfing my XFS and have to replace the foam under the footholds, which was a thick white foam before but it broke down and split in half. Are the yoga blocks good for full time standing? The rear would be about 2" thick and I don't want it too soft that I sink down.

I think most people use the 26mm (or something like that) hydroturf pad for that. For wedges, the yoga blocks are ok but the real wedges are a better thicker foam

Hydroturf use to sell sheets of the good stuff, not sure if that's still the case anymore..

l saw a large piece of the high density eva that is used for the foot blocks and wedges a few years back at Havasu that a vender had,I may have to research to see where it can be bought

I have used those for wedges, they seemed "about right" to me, firmer than thick underpadding, maybe not as firm as a pfp block but I can't say that I really gave it a lot of scrutiny. Bonus is it's already wedge shaped.

Probably not much help for Jcary but maybe others that stumble onto this thread will find it useful. Also, side note, be a little careful if you're searching for foam wedges on a work computer.

I think XScream sources that material from somewhere else. They may even come already cut to shape (horse shoe shape) @tricky

I have these

Find some foam reps and send those pictures of the raw heel locks and I'm sure they will help sell you something or send some samples.

Or just support the small group of vendors that this spot a possible.
