I's getting ready to begin the process that i have been dreading all summer.
REFOAMING

i am thinking i will need 3 lb foam from us composites
but im torn between 2, 3, and 4 so im gonna split the difference

how much do i need to order?
and has anyone ever put the foam in first , before reassembally of the footholds and tray? then just shape it?
i really don't feel like fulling my motor and stuff as well.

You can't start yet. We still have 1 month of waves left.

I've heard you can refoam the bottom half first and then do the top once it is all back together. Make sure you fix any leaks going into your motor compartment too. Might as well reinforce while your in there.

Yea, wait till winter, drill 2 small screw holes and drain if needed for now, then put ss screws in to go ride.

i have drilled some holes and drained the loose water , but it's still evil heavy
in the back
it drains from around my scupper for like 1+ weeks after a ride leaving a steady stream of water to my garage drain

I doubt it as I used most of a 4 lb gallon kit from us composites, there was a lot of waste, lots of little pours with mine.

i know i thought i needed 4cubic ft? anyone else know?
I did a total refoam and had less than 2qt left i would say and also foamed 2 sets of tubbies, also I found that if you displace the remaining product with some c02 the hardner won't tend to crust up in the can. It slowley reacts with air, so wipe the lids clean before putting them on helps.

I have used both fiberlay and the 4lb from uscomposites. From my experience the fiberlay expands faster equalling in more material spread than the 4lb. I prefer the 4lb though
4 lb is strong and supports weight nicely, 2 lb like the stock stuff crushes way to easy.

i used about 1/2 to 2/3's a gallon of 3lb foam.

better to have more than enough than not enough. plus i have always found a use for the excess like making small molds and stuff.
Or foaming tubbies...
