SX/SXi/SXi Pro foam

I removed 30lbs of soaked foam from my 95 X2. I replaced it with about 5lbs of pink polystyrene from Home Depot along with drains in the back.

The back of the ski floated just under water. The only thing keeping this ski floating was the air in the engine compartment.

Unless the 95 SXi's and my 95 X2 were made in different places, I'd venture to say it was the same 2 part foam.

I removed about that from my 96 SXI. It floated tail down in the water now it sits level about 2 inchs above water to the bondline. I am running no foam again after riding with out it last weekend!

hey guys, well, i have a 96 rn sj, put footholds in this winter and reinforced the tray with extra fiberglass, the foam behind the footholds was dry. Now I noticed I have a continual drip out of the back underside of the ski after riding. Its near the ride plate on one of the channels. Soaked foam too?? or just seal up the rough fiberglass/crack and go!

I do not think it would saturate that quickly, mine happened over 3 years of leaky footholds, then I cracked my bottom next to my pump intake and noticed the drip and knew it was time to re-foam. A friend of mine has a sn that has a foothold that cracked out recently and he put drains at the rear of his ski to let it drip out and not sit around the foam. I would say thats whats going with yours, the water is just between the foam and the hull. What kind of resin did you use for reinforcement?

does any body have pictures of the tray removed? I am about to cut the holes for my foot holds and then cut the entire tray out to remove all the foam. Using the pink stuff from home depot. I am concerned about the 4 recessed area for the pump nuts. How close is that to the under layer and how difficult is it to sepearate to two? Pics and comments appreciated thanks.
