foothold epoxy filler needed?

Location

I am getting ready to fiberglass in my footholds. I bought my epoxy/ resin from uscomposites.com. and will be using fiberglass mat, not cloth. my question is how important is the filler. i did not order any. if it is required is there a store (lowes, home depot, etc.) that stocks it? What is its purpose? Will just epoxy be 100% waterproof? thanks so much

when you say "get by without it"... How important is it though... I can order some, if it would be worth the wait. thanks!

Having a thickened resin will help you seal out water. Use it to glue the footholds to the tray when you rivet them in place. I like to completely fill the seams before glassing with straight epoxy resin. If you can't afford thickener, just cross your fingers and hope that water will not find the little gaps that might be left in your glass work.

you can use 5200 to glue and seal the footholds, or a urethane adhesive (Think PL21 - you can get it at lowes) works. Then glass over foothold seams to help seal footholds. You can also use Panel Fuser (Chris Maros use to use this stuff. But it takes a special gun to apply the adhesive).

i riveted mine in and took a paint brush and brushed epoxy in the whole foot hold and around all the rivets and seams and then laid glass around the hole thing along every seam an in the bottom. let that dry and then did it all over again but used carbon instead of glass. should be sealed tighter then a lil girls tuna but either way my trays mostly polyfoam wit drains. check my build thread out for pics
