Really depends on you, I myself like footholds with a front strap for surf stance. I have all my ski's setup like this & really works great for surf or flatwater. Its also nice to have a rear strap if you have a big tray, makes re entries sweet.

Sooo haa which one?

Its a personal preference for some people. Straps are better for a surf stance while holds are nice for freestyle. Or you can always combine both
Traps are cheaper for sure. I bought 2 for i think 40 shipped where as i havent seen any holds under 100. Also the place i bought from had free shipping and it was fast! blowsion wanted like 15 for shipping

The answer to this is its really a personal preference thing. There are top skilled riders that will argue for either. If you want ot hear our opinions as to what we think might be better for you then first answer these questions; 1. What type of riding do you mainly do? 2. How often do you ride? 3. Where do you ride? 4. What do you ride? 5. How much effort/time/money do you mind spending?

I think if you are a beginner, foot holds. Advanced, straps. Newbies tend to bail a lot more often because they get out of shape easier. The straps are a bit more difficult to get out of, but lock you in.

I have visions of people twisting knees and breaking ankles with those fancy little side slaps that you manage to do before you get your nose stabs down. Another good thing about being a beginner and installing footholds is you get a bit of a feel for glassing and turfing so you don't end up with a 2 inch strip of woven glass as reinforcement when you come to it! You get to learn as you go, and enjoy riding for longer because you don't have injuries as a result of a poor landing. Footholds can lock you in pretty well too, but they are a little more forgiving.

if you're riding 2 feet in the back use holds

if you ride one foot forward you have a lot of options. front foot hold, one strap up front and rear foot holds, 2 straps (front and rear).

i use my right foot hold for surf stance. i just love my front hold, its as wide as the tray so if i switch stances i can use my left rear hold and put my fight foot anywhere in the front hold.
