FOOTWELL PLACEMENT

Howzit
Needing advice on footwell placement / position
I've got Wamilton /RRP footwells for my SJ
was wondering is there any specific /preferred placement for these from the front of the tray to front of footwells or back of tray to back of footwells
I've got a stock pole on but have a RRP steering system with RRP straight bars which has got the bars inline or slightly back of the dash
currently got the footwells marked at 300mm from the dash bash board and about 160mm from the back of the ski to the back end of the cutouts
The attached Pic is the template I've made and the outer edge of the paper is the outer edge of the footwells
Any help will be appreciated
Cheers

On a more serious note, most people take 2-6" off their pole on a superjet for rec riding. So you want to have the pole length figured out before footholds IMO. My sweet spot was -6" off pole with straight bars. Which made me place my footholds farther forward in the tray. Id guess 1" farther forward than where you're at now. 6' 220lb for reference.

unfortunately I don't deal in bacon.. so I'm 11.8" from the dash and 6.3" from the rear of the ski with my templates ... the bars are quite far fwd from std .. I reckon around 4“ fwd... I'm 5'8"
Would having the footwells too far back create an issue whereby you don't get enough pull on the bars when wanting to backflip etc
We are super limited here with guys that can work on our skis and parts.. last purchase from the US took 4 months to get here.. don't want to cock things up and then be out of commission during our summer IMG_20210829_120555_edit_429441919436033.jpg

I did a sorta of unusual set up on buddies ski, 2 rear foot straps with heal wedges instead of foot holds, with a full length poll and aftermarket bars and over the pivot steering, adjustable fixed trim system and D cut ride plate..

The method I used to find where to place the straps might help you… with all the above mods already installed and adjusted to his liking, I next put tap down on the tray (sticky masking tap) down the center of tray or one each side, can’t remember which… I put numbers on the tap like a tap measure and had him ride the ski for awhile and look at what number his toes were at…. Took his ride shoes and stuffed with paper and used the shoes and toe placement number to figure the strap placement..

You might use the tap method and ride your ski and see where your feet are in the tray.. use this info to help verify where to install your holds

On a superjet, the holds need to be as far in back as humanly possible. You get the most leverage back there. If you want them for rolls, you can actually crank the ass end around if you're coming up short. Flatwater freestyle skis have them forward to improve center of gravity. Not necessary on some heavy ass superset.

Which chinpad is that?
it's a printed one some mates of mine designed.. we wanted a lower profile one and one to accommodate the shortened RRP Steering System without having to cut the stock chinpad for the steering cable .. came out really nice.. also alot lighter than the OEM one.. don't know why Yamaha have stuck to that old fashioned one all these yearsScreenshot_20210913_074119.jpgScreenshot_20210913_074047.jpg
still going to fine tune it though

Thanx for reply.. I was just concerned that if they are too far back and being vertically challenged I would be leaning and reaching too far forward limiting control but I guess an inch or 2 either way won't really make too much difference... just fit and adapt... based on the image would you reckon that's the ball park area to fit IMG_20210912_132354.jpgIMG_20210912_133057.jpgwith the 18mm underlay foam and Hydroturf it will force the foot slightly more back than fitting into a blank mould
the back of the mould is basically on the line where the tray starts to taper up.. I'm going to put a slight wedge on the back of the tray
Thanx again for the input

Will you share the design?

Will you share the design?
Hi.. some guys have asked me the same question (actually created another thread for it) .. it's not my design.. 2 of my mates (brothers) I ride with have been designing it for a while.. that was just a prototype print (1 of many) They did a final measurement a few days ago and have printed a new version which they are going to use as a mould for a carbon fiber one they are making.. I reckon they will be done with the first carbon one this week and their intention is to sell on eBay or direct .. as soon as I have more info and finished product I will post pics
