Wiping out in footholds isn't that big of a deal anyways. Those holds look small.
You've got a brand new sj so you might as well go all out with your footholds.
For fixed footholds with room for lots of padding look into @tom21 @TOBY @waterfreak etc. Unless you want to spend the time with adjustable holds, but imo properly padded fixed footholds work perfect. I'm running tom21 footholds with 26mm black plush padding top and bottom with two layers of turf on the top, and I might add another layer up top. I like a tight fit to keep me locked in.

Thanks for the info. On adjustable holds it seems like once I found 'the spot' I would not change them anymore. I saw what I assume are pictures of the tom21's they look good. I don't have a huge foot @ size 10 but I like the idea of adding padding to get it as snug as I want it.

After reading this thread I think I might like the front and rear footholds. On my 550s I would try to hold the tray with my feet pressing outwards but often I miss and start to float. I think that the footholds could become an important part of my ride style.

Get a front foothold and then some tom21 footholds then! Haha.
I have a size 8.5-9 foot and I run tom21s holds with just a ton of padding. Works perfect..

Alright, I'm on that. The straps don't seem like me. But these holds and me are def gonna be buds.

Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.

Rode for about 3 hours today. Not in the surf but back by the locks some big boat wakes. Gettin that tray time up. The 2014 has some tubbies built in but they seem really narrow. Could they actually 'do' anything? I am also getting close to D cutting the ride plate. I saw some worx plates that have the same look.

I have a 2014 sj also. I installed a set of tubbie destroyers. I love them. It's hard for me to ride a ski without tubbies now. What do you weigh khaos?

I'm 200lbs. I would like to stop the erratic tracking that occurs on plane. Do the tubbies do anything for that? It seems that they would be mostly out of the water.

Just finished the install on my diggers, I have relatively small feet (9.5) So I thought they would be perfect.. Turfed it 2 days ago, I was doing some dry fitting with scrap turf and realized I may have made a colossal mistake in my foothold choice.. While my feet are fairly small, I have very high arches.

With my riding shoes, it was uncomfortably tight in my first turf mockup.. I ended up stealing my wife's new pilates mat, which was damn near the same color as my royal blue turf... The only turf inside my footholds is on the bottom..Back, top and sides are thin pilates mat.
Seems ok, I haven't been able to ride it yet, wish I would have spent more time researching, I would have rather overpadded to fit, not thrilled with how it came out visually either.

I have done a dry turfless fit wearing sneakers and I am concerned a little as well. I may cut these and add a quarter to half inch. I would def rather pad to fit.

I have the Blowsion klowners but I'm not the biggest fan of them. They are plenty long and have enough room for a lot of padding on top and bottom but to me it dosent seem like they are deep enough. I don't have any experience with the Tom21s but if you can get your hand on a set of the xmetal holds that would be the way to go in my opinion. I'm in love with my foot straps. I have set up pretty close to the same in my superjet and my 650. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1422491724.429592.jpg

I cut mine to make the foot taller. Got them in before the Carolina Beach freeride. 26mm padding needs room. :) So far so good.
