For sale threads and pricing rules

What is going on lately that many people selling on this site think it is ebay?

I have offered a price on two parts recently and lost the sale. This happened because the seller didn't post a price and waited until the end of the day for someone to offer more than me, after agreeing to the price I offered earlier in the day.

Boo hoo for me, no big deal. But just saying I have noticed a lot of for sale threads go up recently where guys think we are here to bid on their stuff.

Thanks to the mods for noticing those few threads and taking care of them, but is there any real solution to this? Perhaps a notice on the top of the page before you post a for sale thread?

Pretty much unrelated, but while we are airing our for sale thread grievances... Can we please stop deleting prices in the SOLD threads? That is useful info to have around and I see zero point in removing it. Ok great, thanks.

Dustin, I prune the for sale threads periodically, so having the prices doesn't last for long anyway.

I agree here. It's just that it sure makes it easier when you need to sell a like item and seach to see what they are going for.

Its important to keep the for sale thread working on this site more for the buyer than ther seller or we will eventually end up with EBAY or CL type situation.
when I need a part I come HERE FIST always but if it becomes a head ache I will bypass it. Respectable peeps selling un needed or even new items at good prices. Pay and dont worry cuz its coming as stated. posting items with no pics or no price is just inconsiderate and generally means the person posting doesnt care when or what you will get once you pay IMO!!!!

I think it also helps the savvy buyer. Just like a home appraisal, you base the value on similar and recent sales. Probably impossible, but it sure would be great if when you changed a thread tag to sold you had to put in a quick description of what it was and what you got for it. And then have that info auto populate a searchable database somewhere.

I am with you Bruce. The same thing has happen to me. Its like you need to sit on your computer and wait for the seller to get bck to you. My situation was we agreed on the price for a lot. Then a part from the lot was sold. And then another part was sold. All within less than 24 hrs of the initial sale.
