Fouling rear plug**updated**

I did a search and came up with no real good info.
A few weeks ago the last time I rode the ski it ran fine. I did run some fogging oil through it because I knew it would be sitting a while. I just upgraded from my single 46 to a single 48 Novi and took it out today and it ran like crap. When I nailed it, it would just wouldn't rev up right off but I could tell the jetting was on. Like it would run on one cylinder then it would rip. Just ran weird. Took the plugs out (which have about 15 minutes ride time) and the rear plug was black and looked fouled. The front plug looked good. I'm sure the plug wires are ok. They were replaced by JSS. Checked the reeds and they are good. Compression good and have good spark.
The only conclusion I can come up with is I fouled the plugs fogging the engine and setting the idle on the Novi.
I'm hoping new plugs will do the trick. Just a little frustrated. I have no time to ride lately and when I do I'm troubleshooting crap like this.

My setup in case it matters:
62T/61X
-ATP manifold
-VF3 reeds
-ADA head
-B pipe
-stock porting
-MSD enhancer

Thoughts or comments?

assume nothing and start with the easiest thing first.

put new plugs on the terminals and turn the motor over and watch the spark. make sure it's blue/white on both.
check the compression again.
have you seen the reeds since the plugs went bad? just cause they're new doesn't make them good.
do another a pressure test.

I checked the reeds and compression today. Spark looked good with the new plugs. I will water test again this weekend so if it is still ass'd up I will do a pressure test. Stupid jet skis...

Mike, What Novi carb did you get? Is it the FREESTYLE carb or the RACE carb? The freestyle carb still has the top on the carb with the stock 4 bolt pattern so you can still use a stock 61X single air box on them.

also dont assume the coil is all good just cause it was rebuilt recently.what your describing is exactly what a bad plug wire will do

try switching the wires when you ride again and see if the fouled plug follows the wire or if it stays with the rear cyl.

Chuck, I have the freestyle carb with a stock f/a.

Thats what I plan to do this weekend. I checked the spark and it looked strong.

Tested it today after work and it ran like crap. Swapped the plug wires and the plugs and no real change in the plugs. Got it home and tested for spark and the front plug had weak spark. Any chance it may be anything other than the coil?

Thought I had it fixed too. It cleared up (kind of) for a while but it reared its ugly head again. Honestly, I'm ready to throw in the towel.

I don't have time to ride lately either. Between drill, work, the f'ed up superjet, yard work and the boat it leaves not much time for me to ride.

Not yet. I sent the coil to JSS a few months back to have new wires installed. I'm thinking the coil itself may be bad. Then again it may be the enhancer or something else. This is obviously over my head to diagnose.

cough,cough plugwire,cough

esp.if the problem comes and goes

leave it with me a couple days, ill find your gremlin

It did 'gurgle' pretty bad with the 46 but not to this extent. The carb I wouldn't think would have anything to do with it. I could really tell the difference in the spark between the front plug and the rear plug. The front spark looked really weak.

I would do as Butti suggested about the wires.I know you said that they were new but it may have been speratic when JSS had them.
They may have tested and it just happened to be good.
