Im having trouble bolting my 62t exhaust mani to my 760 cylinders, well its really just the 2 PITA top middle bolts. What bolts do you guys with 62t top ends run? All the bolts I have are too big to slide down in those 2 slots, my bolts wont even fit through them at all, it almost looks like whatever this mani came off of didnt have those 2 installed.

They are M10x1.25 bolts, but with 10mm heads instead of the 14mm or even 15mm that's standard on that size bolt. Not sure what you'd do there as they are tough to find.

The two top center bolts need to be shortened or they bottom out before they are fully engaged. Hack a short amount off the tip of the bolt, and take it to a grinding wheel to smooth it out before you install.

How are you getting an Allen wrench on those two bolts?

Just cut the flange off the manifold, duh.

You might have to grind those two center slots open just a bit if the screws don't fit (I want to say I remember my 62T manifold being the same way). Like BrightEyes said, you will have to shorten the factory hardware for those two, go buy a cheapo wrench (or two) from Harbor Freight to grind the crap out of to fit those inside screws and save it in your toolbox, you likely use it in the future and it makes install much easier.

Another option that I have done before: Get a couple M8 Helicoils - they thread right into the 62T M10 holes. Then use the 61x style M8 bolts on those 2 holes.

It's been a while and I could be way off but I thought the 62t and 61x factory exhaust screws had the same size head and just the thread size was different so the only benefit of using helicoils is to not have to grind on the manifold?

Good pic, For some reason I must've had a different manifold in my head.I stand corrected. Yeah not gonna work there, well it works in other areas with clearance issues because of the smaller head diameter. Gonna have to get out the ol ground up wrench on that one.Come on by anyway,I got 3 brand new engines that need broken in and I can't ride this year because of a severe injury. Now that I think about it, could you use a knurled socket head and a pair of 4" curved jaw vise grips? should be able to get sufficient torque and get it done quickly.

I just modified my big 62t bolts and hogged out the 2 middle mani bolts so they would fit. Ah, theres nothing like butchering high dollar ski parts, lol.

I like to use 2 bolts that have threads on them. Hope this is what you were looking for.

Studs probably wouldn't allow enough thread engagement, I don't think there is a large enough gap to fit a long enough stud.

Instead of all this cutting, hacking, and grinding everyone is talking about, you could just follow FP's instructions for that mani and use timeserts/helicoils on the top two center holes to allow you to install M8 hardware.

"Clean all gasket material from cylinder. Thread the 8 mm nut (item #30) halfway on to one of the 8 x
30 mm bolts (item #29). Thread one of the 8 x 1.25 x 16 mm time serts (item #28) partially onto the
bolt and tighten nut against time sert. Apply red Loctite to time sert and thread into one of the top
two center 10 mm manifold holes in cylinder until nut is flush. Loosen nut and remove the 8 mm
bolt. Repeat procedure for other hole. 8 mm nut is no longer needed. Install the exhaust manifold
gasket (item #20) using the two 8 x 30 mm bolts (item #29). Thread these bolts in about halfway and
then install the Factory Pipe exhaust manifold (item #3)"
