Budgets are made to be broken!

New year, Bought a new house with nice big garage, no internet available yet, So my research is limited to work time. Unfortunately, I have to work, and can't do too much searching. I thought when you became management you were supposed to have less work?

Now that my main priorities have been taken care of, I am in the market for a new engine for the freak. Need some ideas for a new engine to replace my 760: pump gas, reliable, easy flat water back flip-able.

Was hoping to get the opportunity to go to Daytona, but I have my 5yr old daughter that weekend, and At the Consumer Electronics show in Vegas, the week before.

Any suggestions on engines?
How long can I plan on this engine lasting?

Thanks for any advice,
Adam

Tons of options for motors. What is your budget? Regardless of what motor you pick, my suggestion would be to buy a package that has a lot of tuning information behind it. Some motors might be very attractive due to price, but as they say...."you get what you pay for."

My suggestions would be something like a TPE 964, PHP 898, or a DASA motor of your CC choice. Lots of help and tuning available for those motors.

Budget is somewhat negligible, as this is in fact a money pit. So no matter what I think I'll spend, let's plan on doubling it. My goal is $5K, so Let's stay under $10K for complete package. Im thinking I need a charging system, but could probably be talked into TL.

That's a huge budget! That should buy you a motor, electronics (TL), intake, and carbs. I don't know what pump you are running but once you get into some big hp you'll want a bigger pump. I'll double what Matt said and say buy a package, then you can pretty much bolt in and ride. Nothing more painful than watching people struggle all spring and part of summer just to give up or pay big $$ to have someone tune or diagnose the problem.

I agree I have some parts that I'm sure would swap over, carbs probably, but I really want a package already tuned so I'm not working on it all the time. Ill probably wind up taking my old superjet hull that I tried to use for parts and either rebuild it with the current engine and have it running this summer or part it out. I think I tried to use most of the parts from it and was only left with electronics motor and maybe cables.

Current pump is factory 144mm drilled for dual cooling. Was trying to figure out if I'm going to need a 148 or just stick with a new 144 mag

If you want some serious power I'd say at a min a 148. I was running a 155 with a JM781 and I loved the hookup with the big pump. You have an idea on weight of your current hull?
