No, I don't think so. Blowsion does their motor building in-house now and has done so for at least a couple of years.
I've talked to Steve a few times in Pacific City over the years, but for some reason never had him do any work. He's a great guy with a reputation to match.

honestly for the longest time I thought steve did mostly sxr and race stuff. I just recently started lookin into kommander at the advice of randy at watcon. Their billet and machine work is some of the best I've ever seen. They also have a new billet 1 piece girdled head that looks bad ass. Maybe ross can post a pic of it?

The new one piece head is pretty cool...but I'm 300 miles away from his shop, and don't seem to have a good picture on this computer.

In the beginning Steve was the one that got Blowsion in to the billet business and he did all of their motor work, but the past couple of years they have done their own for the most part, he still does some billet work for them from time to time. Steve also still does motors for me and Darin. He is probably best known for his racing boats and motors, but that is by no means all he does.

IMO, and this is only my opinion and maybe is just because of my riding style. But a freeride and a freestyle port job are two very different things. A good freeride port job (for me) should have power characteristics that are basically a mix of a race and a freestyle motor. I want the power to come on hard where I need it which is not right off the bottom, but closer to the middle of the RPM range. Then it needs to really pull hard through the middle upper part of the revs. That is the way to get the height you are after in freeride. And I like it a little softer and more progressive right off the bottom because I feel like that gives me more control in critical sections.

Anyway...my input for what it is worth.

i picked jetworks and xscream out from this site. then i called them and Art talked to me for about an hour explianing everything he would do for my price range. xscream didnt answer their phone or they could of easly been my choice. and i understand eveyone gets busy but Art had me sold after talking to him. not to metion all the people that are very happy with their setup from him. i didnt hear much about Kommander till recently and i know there are dozens of others that have great setups. word of mouth plays a big role...

We do answer our phone.
When you do the volume of business we do overseas, sometimes you miss a few calls and we do have voicemail setup that picks up the calls for those infrequent times. So did you leave a message? Did someone return your call? Don't get on here and bull:):):):) anyone as I have full time employees that handle this VERY WELL and follow protocol about this issue.

whoa, man you took that all the wrong way. i wasn't talking any poop, i even stated in my post that i know everyone gets busy. i did not leave a message because i do not have a number for you to call back. our phone calls go threw Washington and the number is always totally random. text is very hard to see emotion threw. read it for what its worth. i am a very easy going person and i very rarely start poop.

i have never said anything bad about x-scream, and i also stated that i could of easily pick yall over jetworks.

all that being said, ill still have a xmetal adjustable pole on my ski one day.

I think what Tyler was trying to say was that it doesn't matter who you talk to at a certain level, you will be impressed and want their product. For him he spoke to Jetworks first and so they got the business, had it been X-scream then they could have gotten the business just as easy. When you have cash in hand and are ready to order, then timing is critical.

I had a similar experience with a vendor just a few weeks ago and i ended up going with the one i had on the phone just because i had to get moving on the project and i already had them on the line. Both vendors were of equal price and quality.

Sorry Tyler, i think i got you mixed up a few times now. Did you pay me through your brothers account? I could have sworn I saw Travis on an invoice.

Just out of curiosity, have any of your guys had any conversations with or work done by Steve Webster at Kommander Industries? I have ridden stock based motors for the last three years, and he has done all of them for me. But I don't think any of you guys ever use him for work. Just kind of wondering why...

I hadn't heard of Kommander until I saw the stickers on your boats! I think if he came here on the X, he could generate some buzz and some work. Didn't he work for another company? I may get some porting done to my Kawi cylinder...I here he is the man for Kawis.

Everyone I know has always used LPW (Paul Lehr), maybe because they have ridden with him in the past or met him at freerides. Always very helpful and knowledgeable. (could also be a regional thing. Dropped off cylinders and motors at freerides to save shipping).

I knew he had a big presence in racing but haven't heard much on the freeride/freestyle side of things.

Bobby Howering speaks very highly of him as well.

An engine builder is an engine builder. If they understand the effect of port timing , compression etc its not hard to do a race style or freestyle engine.
Alot of it is the same, its just the power delivery you tailor for the specific use.
Im with you ross and I build my free ride engines to pull the length of the wave and not to go flat halfway up the wave like some engines I have ridden do.
I find alot of people go huge with the exhaust port, which can make great power but in Australia we ride two tanks a weekend all year round due to the weather and so I keep my exhaust port smaller to retain a long service life.
