Freestyle competition legal hull dimensions

According to wikipedia the FX-1 length is 83.9 inches making the shortest length 77.4 inches (rules state minimum length for all watercraft to be 76 inches). The FX-1 is only 24.8 inches wide according to the same source making an FX-1 based watercraft's maximum width 26.8 inches, the same width as a superjet.

According to www.ericmalone.com the micro is 76inches with the kickplate extension. I couldn't find anything on the width.

TeamXScream lists the DVX as being 75 inches in length on their website.

I've all but given up hope on complying with these rules.

Those rules are pretty beat. From what I hear, much like was said in a prior post, unless you blow everyone out of the water, then you don't have much of an issue with the rules.

so If one was to run a twin out of an F1000 Sno Pro could we call it a Tigershark based hull?
I'm not sure. Suzuki made the tigershark engines. :p

This seems to be the case. It's still disheartening to have the rules reiterated by an official when asked even though they aren't being followed.

Sorry, I missed one post. My apologies.

OK. so now where you are at, I would ask Scott directly, in writing. Scott, my hull will have a running surface of.... a top deck height of.....a width of... and any other dimensions you are concerned with and note his response. That way if you do build a hull, and it gets protested....you are in the clear from the sanctioning body.

Gotcha. I'll contact Scott again and make sure to post the results.

@yamanube I know its very unlikely to happen but it would be a bummer if someone showed up to an event and was denied entry because I wasn't thorough enough. I figure if I can make certain now it would be better than finding out later.

I agree to get it in writing from the sanctioning body. I am also curious what the dimensions of your hull are in relation to the dimensions of the current crop of hulls like DVX/KDX, Revolver, XFS, Hurricane. If your hull is same size as them I don't see how a protest from a competitor on a dimensionally similar hull would have validity.

Politics are a MFer in anything. Always better to know upfront and have a plan, and a backup.

It's wider than the DVX/KDX and XFS by a fair margin and comparable in length. Not sure about the revolver or hurricane. I believe both the DVX and XFS actually meet the width requirements which is part of why I'm concerned about my dimensions. It doesn't really meet any of rules exactly.

Well do the others? Either they do or they don't. Its not "well hull meets this but not that so its ok". I guess just get it in writing if this hull will see competition. I wouldn't expect any of the other hull builders to lodge a protest myself. I believe the Hurricane is very close to the DVX dimensionally. Any pics of your/the hull in question? Good luck and have fun.

I do in fact believe this is a case of hulls meeting some dimensional requirements and not others as already discussed. I do not wish to dispute the merit of this happening since I frankly don't care. I just want to make sure a hull I build will be allowed to compete which is why I will be giving Scott my specific dimensions and see what he says. After that I think we will all have a clearer idea of how this whole process is being governed. No pics yet, its still in development.
