Judging your cheapness

There some things here that I don't believe to well thought out. What type of riding do you prefer as that will help determine where to spend your money.
Flat water??
Surf??
Boat chasing??
Remember everything is a give and take. If you surf ride huge power is not necessary. If you flat water ride and flip then things like big carbs and total loss are great but at the expense of ride time per tank of fuel and distance you can travel from your riding spot.

On mine from jetmaniac you tie the knots and make it the length you wantRandom off topic question about other things than engines.... When you guys ordered a handpole limiter rope, was it adjustable at all or did you guys cut yours for a shorter pole? It's the little things I can't figure out sometimes... Haha
I think a mag pump is probably going to be the first thing I do. I'm really torn between a 144 and 148 though. The 144 being the cheaper option of course because I already have an impros hooker prop 10/16 I believe but I'm sure I could sell that no problem. Would I have to get a different trim nozzle for the 148 pump?
What size is your "dialed prop" , and what carbs did you add??Personally. The 4mil crank is the bees knees!! I had Tpe build me a 82mm bore 4mil motor And it's awesome. However I also added a dasa intake and carbs. Big power there too. I'm running a B pipe and charging system still and my dvx flips with ease.
If I had to do it again I would have spent the money on total loss and carbs first. Then when I needed motor work , went with the 4mil.
That all said, none of this matters if it's not tuned correctly. When people rode my unported 718 they thought it was a ported 760. It was super crisp and clean, plus had the correct prop.
This was achieved by dropping the ski off at p&p performance in Richmond. @Philip Clemmons got me the right prop and dialed my setup in perfectly. I had him setup my new ski too and it's crazy good for what I have invested. I can't wait to get a TL setup from him. He has the cleanest setup hands down.
It's worth a weekend of your time to make the trip.
I think I will upgrade he engine more but it will be later down the road. It makes sense what you're saying though. Maybe I should just look into going with a 148 instead of having to redo everything down the road. What all would a 148 mag swap require? The 144 Mag is the less expensive upgrade and works perfectly with your hooker 10/16 and motor setup. 148 is more expensive, but you upgrade to more power with the same pump later. Nozzles and pump shoe the same with 144-148.
