I'm getting ready to buy a superjet to learn how to freestlye on. Any advice on used vs. new, worried about salt water w/a new ski. Thanks!

You are set on any superjet 94'+ they all came with 701cc motors.
Last i'v herd Ratti has a stock 99' SJ for sale in GA with a few boltons.

you are going to spend some money if you want freestyle ski new or used
buying used you could save some money if the boat is already set up for freestyle if you are really want to go freestyle dont buy a superjet you want a light hull and a big motor =big big $$ surf boat is a hole lot cheeper than a flatwater boat hope this help a little

Buy one already set up it will save you alot of headache and money.I'm speaking from experience .

its all in the setup.
flatwater you want the lightest hull and most crazy powerful motor you can afford. footholds for leverage
surf you want strong and reliable. straps for surf style.
you should be looking for a rn sj, '96-'07, its a very capable ski and is easily modded to suit you better.

Jeff, there are a lot of very different levels within what could be called "freestyle" riding. Have you riden a Superjet before? Do you know anybody locally who is doing the kind of riding you want to do?
I would set some goals like that first, and if at all possible ride a couple before you go shopping. For $3k you can get a very lakeworthy nice looking and riding ski with some decent modifications. If you want to do flatwater backflips you are entering a whole different world and accompanying price range.

Get a used ski already setup and running for flatwater freestyle. I was in your position last year when I bought my ski brand new. I could have had a lot more ski for thousands less. I'm a surf rider so super light weight super high power isn't something I need. Pretty close to stock is good for beginning surf riding but not for flatwater freestyle.

If you want to do hardcore flatwater freestyle your looking at a lot of money. Hook up with some local riders and see what they are riding.

Seriously wait until you find a good used ski. If you want to go new you'll need to start with a light weight hull (for example Trinity Composites) and go from there.

i think surf is more fun for the money let someone other than you buy a big $flatwater boat and you ride it that what i try to do thanks to "bogie"

I only paid $2600 for my 01 SJ, already had ride plate & intake grate. They're out there...with a $3k budget, you should be able to find something no problem, without the need to finance. If you find anything down in South Florida, feel free to hit me up. I can take a look at it for you.

I bought my 96 SJ for about $1800. It already had a grate, ride plate, impeller and some motor work done to it.

really,, let's get realistic, how many beginning freestyle guys need an expensive light weight hull and big motor, a used superjet with a b pipe is the way to go, unless your plan on competing. What you'll really need is a light weight set of big balls and a helmet. What ever you do don't buy a new ski and then mod it, trust me it's way to expensive, buy someone elses money pit.

I'm lookin' on craigs list and ebay, waiting for the right one. Let me know if you guys know anyone else on here thats trying to sell one. Ricky, I just took my waveblaster to peanut island, the waves off the coast there were awesome, thats actually what made me want to get more serious.
