assuming you've got a short and light carbon hull, here's kinda how i'd break down motor/pump choices and what they can do in said hull:

  • All stock 701, stock exhaust, 144 pump, stock ignition: Probably never gonna FW flip it. Can probably get one around off a vwake if you practice a lot
  • 701 with head (lots of compression), programmable ignition, pipe of some kind (b pipe or lay down), stock 144 pump or maybe 148: with TONS of practice you can nose in backflips and ride them out. Sometimes you'll get real low height complete flips. I mean TONS of practice. Add freestyle porting and it gets a bit easier but still hard AF.
  • BB 781 or similar. THis is 701 based with stock cylinder of some type heavily modified. Laydown pipe. programmable ignition, maybe a 148 pump, etc. Will take practice, but you can consistently flip this kind of package and do combos with a lot of practice.
  • After this you get mostly into power valve motors. Most common setups you will see are around mid 900cc stock stroke motors, around 1000-11000CC 10mm stroker motors and 16mm stroker 1200s (there's a million other varieties, these are probably just the most common configurations). There are many popular brands and they, for the most part, will all easily backflip and allow for combos, etc. Different brands and configurations have much differnet power levels and power delivery
