Freestyle project hull

Sweet, it's coming along. By the sound of it, it seems that all that light weight is forcing you to move forward. Sounds like a great back flip hull to me.

Video please! Someone mail him that Hero cam already!!!

Sorry no engine bay pics yet , I forgot to take any before it got dark!

We shortened the pole 3" , Modded the foot holds to be more ankle friendly , But did not move them forward yet as not sure if they need it.

We tested with a 3" longer ride plate but it handles better with the short one!

The problem of the rear riding too low at low speeds was totally caused by the tilt nozzle assy being forced up by the water coming off the bottom of the ride plate.( The ride plate now finishes 6" forward of the tilt nozzle unlike on the SJ hull where the plate shielded the nozzle )
We tried a solid link to hold the nozzle straight and the hull rides perfect! I have now fitted some stronger springs to the nozzle and will try tomorrow.
I am looking into making a hydraulic system .

The hull turns like nothing I have ever ridden ! In fact it is so different from my SJ I will have to put in a few hours to get the feel of it!
On the wake set up it flicks round on a dime without sinking in and loosing momentum.

It feels like it is capable of doing a lot more than I am able to do with it at this stage !!

Can anyone tell me do you all ride with the pole bolt tight only and no pole spring? I have always kept the spring as well as tightening the bolt this way the pole was the same force to raise and lower. This pole does not allow a spring to be fitted and I feel i am constantly having to haul it up !

I ride with my pole stiff enough that it will not come down on it's own. tighten that puppy up some more...

Cool build you have here, can't wait to see some video...

Careful with the lack of spring. That's how my freestyle career ended. If you can't figure out a spring, do what Rickster does but that kills the feel of a stand up. There are springs out there that will work on those poles. Look at a farm equipment store for some different colored springs that are used to hold tillers in place called "Rake teeth". They are not stainless but they are coated and only $2-$5 each. There are many different shapes and they are as strong as aftermarket springs. You could find one to go in between the two poles and push against a plate that you weld between them.

BTW, I was going to resell thease for $35 on the x once I figured out wich ones to use. Guess I just blew that idea.

Pulled a 'Nothing' in 7ft surf in FL in front of my sponsors. I had a worn out spring, missed the pole, 30ft in air with nothing to land on but a very light weight and boyant ski. Not a good combination.

BTW, you coming to LSFR Aaron?

I was asking because I bought my Rickter and it has no spring, just a TIGHT pole bolt. The pole stays where I put it, but I'm just not used to riding like that. I have the parts to put a spring on it, but people keep telling me that pro's run no spring and stiff pole setup.

YES we are going to LSFR.

Give it time, and you will never go back to riding with a pole spring again...

Not because the pros do it that way, just because it becomes more comfortable as time goes on.

The latest mod on the footholds ........ Getting there! I obviously intend to turf the rear and bond line properly after painting.
Any ideas on designs, We found a paint supply shop here in Pattaya that stocks all the Leary colours inc photo chromatic etc :smokin:

Engine bay pics, almost enough room for a party in the front! with no fuel tank there.

Maxxx555 is coming from Bangkok tomorrow with his Dasa powered lightweight ski should be good fun!
