If you want proof. Put 4 gallons of water in your hull (32 lbs) and go ride. Then remove all that water and go ride. Was the difference that noticeable? Maybe but certainly not as noticeable as going from a 550 to a SJ. I only notice slight differences in handling with a full/empty tank of fuel but OMG did I ever notice changing the stock ignition to a total loss!

Im seeing alot after market hulls and strokers for sale used or almost new for cheap. I say get both at the same time. Rather then buying them both new. Goose and highrollers new hull looks were ud want to be, 68 lbs. They claim backys with a 760 setup. Keep it as a opption. Search nj riders.

I would build a motor first. You can get a deal on strokers now days. That new stunt Ski from Highroller looks sweet. I just put a Xscream 860 in my surf boat & lover the power, now I'm thinking about a hull. My .02 cent is power, before weight.

Buy highrollers hull and retain ur motor for now or buy just a bigbore lam cylinder used and keep the stock stroke. 800cc in that boat will do justice.

That's not your standard 800cc motor out of an SXR... That thing alone would qualify as the engine kit that lakeboy was talking about.

I say motor is more important but I have to say that I really like the Highroller hull. I was doing a lot of reading on 951 engines until Highroller came out with a hull they say can do flatwater backies with a 701. Granted that hull is nothing like most lightweight hulls which is part of the reason I like it so much.

I should expand a bit on my reasoning of hull vs motor.

A quality aftermarket hull will cost roughly the same as a quality big power motor.

The motor will most likely need yearly maintenance, like rings & hone, and pistons every now and then.
You may need to run race gas and/or total loss.
If anything on it breaks, it is potentially very expensive.
A hydrolock has potential to bend that expensive stroker crank, putting you out of commission for a bit.

A quality, purpose-built aftermarket hull will need no maintenance at all. The potential to break anything on it is much smaller.
It's a "buy once and fuggedaboutit" purchase.

Now, I am not dogging nice motors. I am merely saying that if I had money or either hull or nice motor, but not both, I'd go with the hull provided I already had a motor I could drop in that a/m hull
