Freestyle Freestyler of the year

rashid al mulla was a am rider all this year, 1st year competing...so how did that qualify him as a pro his 1st year coming to the states to compete at the world finals.
IJSBA rules didn't qualify him as a pro.
he nerver won a event or a championship...i believe he did score a 1st in one moto in the events he did ride in

as for the european events he competed in a pro/am class as their was no am class by itself...i think he didn't know about competing and bought a xs1200rr/dvx to ride
thus he rode that in the events as they said he would be illegal on a 1200cc ski so he wasn't supposed to be scored

i watched him at the world finals on a xs900rr and he is just a gifted rider on probably regarded as best am/pro equipment in the world

after WF he turned pro. i do think he did win WF but didn't get good scoring from the bad judging imo
his trick count was more, the difficultly of his tricks were higher and had more variety of tricks/combos and did not come out out of the tray the whole time on the scoring clock unlike the rider they gave the win to

if he ever comes back to the states to compete i do think he could be the next world champion...lee stone is one of the greatest rider but there will always be a new blood in the sport that can beat even the best...give him another year

In my opinion, It's a poll, dont vote for him if you don't like it. I just hate the arguing and drama part. It makes me feel like I'm at work.

Just think "Jet Skiing !!" and all is good and fun!! Sorry, I'm not trying to offend anyone. In my opinion, I would just like to see more positive criticism in our sport.

That's not entirely accurate.

First, let me say I am not choosing sides here. I compete myself and am on no ones "team". My initial reaction and thoughts were that Rashid should have won. I even told Pat that I thought they got robbed. After watching both routines on video several times, it's not as clear. By my count, Eli had 4-6 more tricks than Rashid, and Rashid had quite a few flips in there, which the judges don't tend to score as high. Trick count, on the other hand, is weighted pretty heavily. After being judged several times myself with scores that appeared to be "inconsistent", and watching Johnny Leftly win Hartwell on a clapped out 701, it's obvious the system is flawed and/or biased. There was a considerable difference in style between the two riders, and obviously it was difficult to score them appropriately. I'm not saying one should have won over the other, but that based on the current "system", (which really is whatever the judges feel like doing), it's easy to see why it could go either way.

Until there is a better standard with points for each trick/variation, it's going to very subjective and potentially biased.

I think that the rashid looked great in practice and was the dark horse for sure ,but come the big day it he didn't quite look as polished ? don't rip on me its just an opinion .a lot of these riders pay their dues accordingly and have had several attempts at wf and it shows as nerves settle after its not their first rodeo so to speak .look at Chris for example ! just an opinion

Chris had a minor issue that caused some inconsistency in his skis performance. Murphy's law I guess.

I would like to think of WF more of the prestige and dynamics ,or a comparison to "Motos de Nations" mx than a disco dance off.but if thats how you see it ,well ok.

Pond i get it ,thought it was actually pretty damn funny .Judging is one of those things that add another dynamic to the competition .it may be that a up and coming riders youth ,progression ,energy or consistency (skill level obviously)come into play in an individuals overall consideration of scoring # its hard to say as every judge is an individual with different background in the sport ,with different thinking and so on .this is just my personal interpretation which may be way different than others . If asked did i think rashid shredded a winning capable routine ,yes ! a total contender .but then again my thoughts were Zeski or Eli were on deck after last years finals ,after doing their homework , it was only a matter of who's day was it ? No disrespect to the others competitors who put up winning capable routines as well, at any point it could be your day. props for your efforts
