Hey guys use to have a account here from awile back but forgot email. Anyways, im coming from a dirt bike/atv background.
I live in illinois and am wanting to get into stand ups, i had a js 550 and had a blast and realy fell in love with stand up sence.but i wana start taking this stuff more serious, i will be doing most of my riding in lake michigan and at local rivers. Im into geting air and having as much low end power as possible. From the research ive done im thinking a pre 06 super jet am i right ?
Will i be able to make my way around this engine well having a 2 stroke motocross and atv background, or are they not that similar ? Sorry for such a long post. Thank u guys for any help and cant wait to spend hours of my day reading thru all this knowledge on this forum.

You already figured out the right ski to buy. It will be completely different from your Js. IMO they are the simplest toy to work on that I own

Awsome thanks for rhe reply. And do these motors react well to porting and timing like the banshee engines do, i would asume so. And should i stay away from something that needs some fiberglass work or is that easy to learn? And how much is it to build up a ski compared to ur other toys ?

How serious are you and what's your budget is the question here.

Well i allready know i realy love the sport but its not like im trying to flat water back flip in a few months or anything. Just wana have a ski i can get some good air on and it stay togeather. And when i do get comfortable it will be capable of barrel rolling maybe fliping off a GOOD wake. I know an aftermarket hull is best for this stuff but out of my budget and not resly ready for all that yet wana learn more first.
And im guessing around 2 3 grand for the ski. And for mods idk realy thats why im asking.

Find 3500 buck buy a stock super jet. Modified toys are usually more abused and less reliable. And you can always modify it. Put a thousand hours on it. Buy then you will know exactly what you want. And have had a blast.

for 3 to 4 g you should be able to find a decent sj with few mods ! then you can fix it up yourself i am from mx background ,and would think a lot of people are that are on here !so working on these things are very easy ! hit up air blair he is from their cool guy that mite know few people that have something you mite want!

Air Blair is from Michigan. We've got a hand full of riders down in the Peoria area with a/m skis and sj's. We also ride up in Morris near Joliet. There is a pretty decent stand up scene there as well. Where are you located?

I met a guy at the kankakee river maybe 4 months ago with a green superfreak who did a couple backflips off a nicce wake. He let me ride his 2014 superjet set up for racing thing was quick.

I live in Naperville and we ride the rivers in the early season and then ride Lake Michigan once it gets a little warmer. Always nice to new people come into the sport.

We ride in Wilmington a lot in early season, and at Lake Street beach in Gary Indiana quite a bit. We also go to Winthrop Harbor sometimes in Wisconsin if the conditions are good.

As others said , find a nice Superjet and you will have a blast on it. So many easy mods to do and with your background you will have no problems making adjustments as needed
