From the squares to the moon; Krash Ind Predator build

I pulled the trigger on a brand new Predator and could not be happier with my decision! I ride only surf here in southern California so this hull was an obvious choice. I am new to the AM hull game and I am coming off my square and using that as a donor isn't as simple as most.

2 buddies and I were all on squares and when one of us bought Brandon Lawlor's fr2 from last season, that only meant that my buddy and I had to step our game up. The result, 2 predators and R***ter (see attached pic)

Overall I am very impressed with the hull quality, the fit and finish is very good and the build is coming along smoothly. I am currently waiting on some parts from Blowsion including my billet handle pole and OVP steering system, (I AM SO PUMPED) but here is the progress thus far.

Nothing fancy engine wise, stock 61X with a bpipe, rebuilt my pump and threw on a new hooker 9/15. Bought a used mid shaft off a blaster (square nose problems). All 4 motor mounts were trash from the square so I am using new monkey grips. Bought a new wsm steering cable (more square problems) I also built my own aluminum battery tray after discovering my 25 year old plastic oem was broken.

For the most part building this thing on the cheap with as many home build or modified parts as possible. All my money is in the hull and pole/steering.

Nice!!!

Im building one as we speak also. I have had some issues with the aluminum used in the inserts being soft and threads pulling out. Also if it came from Krash bolted together take it apart and assemble yourself, everything was loose assembled for shipping and nothing was tight, right on down to the bolts holding the scupper flap on. If your scupper came siliconed in remove it and 5200 it in, my buddy lost his on his footrocket on the 3rd ride and another just fell out while assembling the pump.

All in all I am happy with mine even with some of the minor setbacks.

What are you doing for rideplate fasteners? Mine came with nothing and just rough (I mean rough) drilled holes, just curious what others are doing.

I hope to be able to ride mine this coming weekend if all my parts arive, whats your ETA for test ride?

All my threads are solid. I checked every hole and everything torques down nicely. I checked all the bolts before the start of assembly and all were nice and tight with the exception of the handle pole bracket which will obviously have to come off to assemble the pole and the ride plate bolts. . Mine came with all the hardware for the tail plate, stainless round button head allens. I heard the stories of the scupper valves not sticking so I check mine before the pump went in and it seemed glued in pretty damn good, but you are making me second guess myself....

My ETA for a test ride is 7 days from now! As long as parts arrive in a timely manner.

Cool, not trying to make you second guess, but a scupper falling out can sink a ski in seconds and I would hate to have not said anything and then later read that you lost the ski.

Good luck on the build and hope you get to riding it soon.

Got this beast assebled, now we ride!

My first water test went well and I am riding for reals tomorrow morning.

CAN YOU BELIEVE I MADE IT ALL FIT WITH A SQUARE NOSE WATER BOX?!?
Engine compartment pics to come.

Poor thing, getting his nose scratched up by the dock before he ever gets a chance to scratch it off the ocean floor.

I second that pole being long and the scupper thing. "Bad batch of glue" is the word on the street for the scupper. I think it is the fact that it was glued right on without roughing anything up or putting any screws in. That process should have changed by now though.

Ready for some surf pictures and a ride report. I haven't heard much from any Joe Blow's on these hulls and I never got a chance to hit the surf on one.
