Front foot hold modification for surf riding

I have been riding a lot over the past few weeks and have found my front foot needs more room in the tray to widen my stance and be more comfortable on my ankle and leg.
Last weekend I went for a couple backflips for the first time and thought my front foot needed more holding power as well. I'm hoping this mod will help me out.

This afternoon after I got home from riding I decieded to chop up my tray. :)

I may chop into the rail some to make a large grove for my leg as well.

Anyone who has done something like this please post up what you've done.

-Scott

Matt Smiths "All Around" Footholds are MONEY!!! Not only do they widen the tray you can pretty much move your feet around anywhere. With Matts design its easy to Lock your feet in and can be ridden in any stance, Goofy or Regular

I'm not liking footstraps for my ski. I had them in for awhile but I found them to restrictive for me. I wanted a bit more room in the tray for my left foot when I'm riding surf stance which is how I ride 90% of the time.
Bleh been getting the old glue off for the past hour. I think that's the hardest part of the whole job.

Scott the turf where my heel hits at that same spot is almost totally rubbed away... maybe its telling me something your already onto. will you be in Daytona? Id like to see how this little mod feels. I'm all for the surf stance with footholds and Tomski front foothold FTW.

Yes I'll be in Daytona for sure. Making hotel reservations this week.
My ankles are somewhat painful to touch due to old skateboard injuries and the times I've really tweaked on the wall of the tray with my ankle I felt it in a big painful way. The mod might not help my riding 'cause I pretty much suck but it will be more comfortable on my ankle. I've got the Pancake Pete front hold.
I went to start glassing a little while ago and I realized my epoxy supply is empty....gotta goto the local fiberglass store during lunch tomorrow. http://www.fiberglassflorida.com/

so much for riding this weekend then hu? You should have let me known when you were over last night, and I could have given you my electric scraper for removing turf, it took me 10 min to do mine with it

I cut the turf off with a gasket scraper then lay mineral spirit soaked towels on the sticky goo then wipe the goo off. You have to let the mineral spirits soak for a bit then the goo just wipes off. I get impatient and end up doing more elbow work than I should.
I don't know about riding this weekend yet. Didn't get to goto the fiberglass shop for epoxy today.

The front foot hold is great. I really like it. Much better than footstraps for me.

I used a scraper to get the bulk off, then cleaned it down with a wire wheel on a drill.

Here it is ready to ride. It seems more comfortable. I will probably want to hack out more of the side wall.
