And wow the more I hear ppeople's GET the more pleased I am with my say 2.5GPH. I would be pissed and broke if 5 gallons didn't e en last me an hr. Point of this thread is to see if I want to upgrade. I'm thinking of a bigger motor and then maybe a stock play ski so I don't bur. Holes in my pockets when I ride for 4 or 5 hrs ha.

Let's keep data coming in. Would love to hear from people with php, tpe, and xscream motors too!

well even though i consume more fuel i get worn out faster from the power.... so i cant ride quite as long as i used to...

That's a really good point I didn't think of that. I usually ride for 4/5 hours on my 650sx cuz not much work but now my BOB I'm exhausted after a short time when I ride right (hard). Bet with a 970 you'd get tired quite quick huh hah

Ported 701 with 44 carb and Red Pipe. 4-5, hour long rides in a day never spend more then 2/3 of the tank. Putting my 46 carb back on in a few weeks so we'll see how much it changes.

Riding style has so much to do with fuel consumption, as stated before. My son had a 650 in a cordon BG2 with a type 4 pipe and went through his 2 gal kart tank in 25 to 30 minutes. But he was ON it a lot trying to squeeze all the power he could from it. At that same time I was on a 781, tl, pfp, dual fs 48's and was using about the same. Now I'm running a TPE 964, tl, RRP pipe, dual 48 FS's etc... and am still getting right around 30 minutes. If I'm putting and filming my son, it will go 45 min. If I'm on it and doing a lot of tricks it will go 25 minutes ish. If you're on it, you're burning fuel. If you're not, you're not. Surprisingly bigger motors don't burn much more than smaller motors do. It's all in how you're riding the ski. But the bigger motors will work your arse fast! You'll get tired and sore fast, but it's all worth it! Can't wait to go bigger myself. My fuel economy will be roughly the same too. It may burn a little more, but not much. Definitely not enough for me to be concerned about. And the smile is where the real fuel economy measurement comes from. If you come in totally stoked on burning 2 gallons in an hour... You had a good ride. If you come in totally stoked on burning 2 gallons in 25 minutes... You had a good ride. Screw economy IMO. Get out and ride your ride and be happen with it.
