Fuel line! How much?

My carbs are getting a makeover since they haven't been touched since new. (2001) sp I figured it was a good time to replace all the fuel line and filter. But how much do I need? Thrust is 9ft for $40. Do I need more than 9ft?

9’ is just enough to replace all the lines on a Superjet including the reserve and return line. But it’s a good idea to buy a few extra feet.

I wouldn’t recommend clear fuel line. It’s pretty but hardens over time. Jetmaniac sells OEM style fuel which will last a very long time.

Just double checking, alot of places will purposely sell short so you have to buy 2.

Tygon fuel line - the authentic tygon - is pretty good. Can't report back on it's 20 year survivability but it's style more flexible than over cooked spaghetti after 3 years.

The 3/8" stuff - at least the stuff I got in red - from Fuel-line dot com got stiff on me in 2 years.

Link for 10ft of tygon - best price I've found and will do a single ski pretty easily.

It only comes in transparent yellow from what I've found. Other than that - definitely consider getting the OEM stuff from JetManiac. I keep OEM takeoff line in my spare parts bin and you'll easily pull 50% or more of the line off a 30 year old ski in perfectly pliable condition. They did something right back then!

The bottom is real Tyson. It will NOT harden. It seals great.

I have the top PVC kind in a sko right now and it is staying soft. It does not seal as well, you have to use hose clamps. Zip ties leave a corner gap and will leak.

Vinyl based fuel lines get hard.
PVC based can stay soft OR become hard depending on the composition.
Silicone based will stay soft but tend to get softer, even sticky or gooey. (the stock black stuff found on chainsaws and weedeaters)
Polyurethane line works fine, stays soft for 5+ years and comes in multiple colors.
I use Polyurethane and have for over 15 years. The translucent blue Motion Pro line (polyurethane) on my 650sx is over 10 years old and still in good shape but I will change it out this year.

I have used this stuff on several skis , so far I have no complaints , it's 3/16 and stretchy so it fits on the connections tightly and I just back it up with small zip ties , not that it needs them to seal, Emgo is an aftermarket mfg of mostly motorcycle and ATV parts , they have been around forever.

Uusally the stretchy tupe stuff is Neoprene. Pretty good stuff as well but tends to start breaking down from the inside if constantly running ethanol fuels. You start getting carbon black powder inside the carbs. It takes a while though (a few years) and I've not seen it happen when used with only NON-ethanol fuels.

Idk but I've never had mcmaster tygon turn brown and I've been using it for 10 years

I know Gil ran the Mcmaster carr Tygon for years on his ski, I never saw it turn brown either.

I've had good enough luck with the translucent blue polyurethane hose not getting stiff after a couple years, but this year tried a more soft/flexible polyurethane hose. Similar physical characteristics to tygon and about the same price. Plus you can get it in metric sizes, so the 6mm hose fits better on the carb barbs compared to regular 1/4". Plus, it's "abrasion resistant"

I get about 2 decent years with the blue stuff, then it starts turning green and getting stiffer..........
