Super Jet Fuel line question

So I picked up a super jet yesterday and today I noticed it leaked a bunch of fuel out. It was leaking out of the "ON" side of the pick up line. I did some looking around and all the ski I see have lines running from both the "res" and "on" but my "on" have a screw in it. I'm sure that was done to get ride of the fuel select but is there a better way to do it or should I route the line somewhere?

ummm what ??? are you needing a different fuel selector ? I have one if you need one .
I bypass that selector alltogether , which you could do and maybe solve your problem

Sorry for the confusing wording. The selector is bypassed but the one line is plugged with a screw and leaks bad

Yes, a picture would of helped. I just want to know if I can close one of the two lines off.

Picture would help... basically you should take all fuel lines off the switch (therefore not using and "bypassing" the switch) and take the reserve in fuel line and put it where the fuel line coming out of the reserve is going on the carbs. Get it or are you more confused now?? I know I think I might be, but not sure... :ugh:

sounds like you are talking about the on line being plugged and its using the reserve as the on. thats the normal butcher bypass fuel line routing. just run new hose from the tank reserve to the carb in and put a good filter in between.

that is how it is but what do I do with the on line?

Cut it short at the tank, put a stainless bolt on in the line, put a hose clamp on it firmly.

However, if you want to do the job right, hook it up to the on side of a properly working petcock (selector).

I think most ppl dispose of it, but some still like knowing when you hit reserve. I ran out of fuel a few times last season.

Putting a screw in the line is very hard to make it not leak. When the tank pressurizes from vapor fuel will seep along the threads of the screw which is likely where your leak is coming from. If you have clear fuel line the easiest way to stop it leaking is by putting a double bend in it so it makes a Z and then putting a couple heavy duty tie-wraps (zip-ties) on it real tight. If you have the thick black or blue rubber fuel line like stock machines then a bolt may work but putting a piece of solid steel dowel will with a hose clamp or pinch clamp will work much better.

Also for both types of lines you can use a couple dowels or square bars to pinch the line and put hose clamps on both ends of the bar to keep them pinched tight but this tends to be a little bulky and not the best long term solution.

Most do until it breaks, then they remove it as an unnecessary part not worth the money to replace.

I will admit, they are expensive. However, it's nice to go ride in the surf on primary until your ski sputters, then head back on reserve. My X2 has no petcock and checking the tank for fuel levels is annoying.
