Fuel Tank Cleaning

Is there any methods to bringing back them older crust yellow or faded fuel tanks ?

I've heard wet-sanding and bleach helps .... Anything else ?

I have used a magic eraser to get the crud off but most of that yellow is permanent and not just the surface. I would not use bleach but thats just me because once that tank starts getting brittle there is no return. I just accept it...

I've been meaning to try to freshen up the look of my yellow tank. I was thinking of putting a stripe of tape on it for fuel level viewing and then spraying the whole tank with rubberized undercoating in an aerosol can then peeling my tape stripe off.

You could make a cover for it. If you wax it, pva it, you can wrap it with glass. You can either use this as a plug to make a mold, or paint the glass or wrap it in carbon. Cut a long strip out so you can see the fuel level.

Make sure you do it in a way that you can get the fiberglass Off. All angles must be positive, any negitive angles will result in a mwchanicl lock nd you want to be able to remove it.

Fuel permeates from the inside out through the tank over the years. That discoloration is throughout the thickness of the tank. You can clean the nastiness from the outside surface, but that's as good as it'll get.
