Full carbon, is it the right path?

Superfreak circus is the spooniest spoon hull of them all but they get worshiped here on the x.

Your comment really intrigues me. No dog in the fight one way or another, but would you mind sharing what about the Circus was not favorable to you?

I thought the spoon shape was what people were liking because you could have some hull length for stability coupled with the spoon shape to help the ski peel off the water easier.....

I recall this post from the @TOBY T1 thread where spoon shape was discussed as being preferred. https://www.x-h2o.com/threads/t1-by-toby.158914/post-1707868

He may not be able to get an XFR to plane without a 2 foot pole. A little hard on the back for chasing boats around. Depending on his size that is.

Also just out of curiosity how did you go from wanting an all around hull to wanting a flat water hull again? I'd say get an xfr and plop that 898 in it and live happily ever after. Spark plug approved to boot!
Well, I used to love my RIP, I have for years, but recently I swapped to a 155 pump and also switched to an upswept nozzle and that was kicking my ass. Could chase boats much better with my 144. Not to mention, I gained a bunch of weight since that pump swap too which didn't help. BUT Weapon is 5 inches longer, wider, and a redesigned pump tunnel. Sounds like all improvements over the RIP. Don't see how I wouldn't like it if I like the RIP. Maybe I just like to watch the world burn?

I didn't say I don't like a circus. It's just a short hull with a ton of rocker. Others said the spoon shape was bad and only skis with flat bottoms would resell.

Funny how that works, huh? Once you get the ball moving on the internet about a topic, even if it’s completely false, it’s looked at as factual as long as enough clueless people put their 2 cents in….

Superfreaks are only big in one area of the USA. You don't see them anywhere else. And they don't have anywhere near the following of other hulls. Extremely niche.

The inventor of the bob hull said himself the spoon design sucks. That's where everyone got it from. That's why their hulls always transitioned away from that with each gen. More chine. More plate. More design.

Am I superman or something??? Why can i rip a dasa 1100 torrent 155 xfr with a short pole, chasing down Pavati boats on shasta, all day, throwing huge backflips and barrel rolls, and not get tired?? Wtf is so special about me other than I didn't subscribe to the bs everyone else said??

Well I will say those weapon numbers sound like it could be a decent option for you then. But more importantly I blame the extra weight on all that smoked meat ya Ben cooking

I bought a used 2017 full carbon weapon and have almost 4 seasons on it. I have flopped it countless times and it shows no signs of cracking or issues. It is extremely stable and easy to ride. I have limited other hull experience but rides and handles significantly better than a hurricane c2.

So a good design and produced (infused) glass hull will be better than a crappy carbon hull.
But a good fully cabon hull, say most newer hulls from the top brands, will any day of the week be way better option for you for flatwater - also if you flop your tricks.
the 20 lbs will make a huge diffrence. Better spend 3k more on the top end hull in fully carbon, and run OEM 155 pump vs. mag pump.
If you buy the glass hull, in 1 year you will most likely want to get the fully carbon anyway.

Get a carbon edge and call it a day. Or, a hybrid XFR if you wanna lean more flat water. Or a carbon super freak (-4.3 for boat chasing, -7 for more flatwater) but the fit and finish and ease of building is much better on rickter.

I’d rather have a super nice hull than a hyped up drive train.

What year did the Edge change design without notice? 2020? I know a few that weren't happy with the fixed rear bondline and deeper chines.

I don't ride any flatwater freestyle but I do have a superfreak badass -4.3 with a fairly basic 735 setup and it is the best hull I've ever ridden for surf riding and boat chasing. Its incredibly stable and easy to recover. Itll slide for days and its easy to make it carve with the progressive bondrail and low tray. It's definitely too long for pure flatwater freestyle though. The spoon shape nose helps keep it from pearling as well as being blasted in the face. My rockered sj was terrible for that. Mine is glass not carbon. Someone with some skill and a 900+ cc power valve engine and it'll flatwater flip no doubt.
