FX-1 FX-1 Build of The Century??

How many times have people tried to turn an FX-1 into a full freestyle hull, only to sell it and upgrade to an AM hull? For just banging around the lake and doing old school freestyle, his ski will be pretty sweet.
"trim" and "rocker kit" don't sound like they'd be needed for many old school freestyle tricks ;)
To teach their own. Either way I'm excited to see what the OP ends up doing.

Take my advice man...I've basically built what you want to build. It takes way longer than what you think it will take, costs way more than what you think it will cost, and in the End is not worth it. Is it custom and does it look cool? Yes. And you can say you completely built it yourself. Is it cost effective? No. What I put into mine in terms of materials (epoxy, fiberglass, sand paper, carbon) and parts (wide tray, footholds, bigger intake tract, pump etc) is just not worth it compared to a bolt in and go aftermarket hull of your choosing. I'm not lying when I say that I probably put Over 500 hours into it over 2 years. It made the hull handle a lot better and made it more fun, but I would never do it again. Doesnt someone on here make a carbon fx1 with all this stuff already done? If he still does, that's the option I would choose, and still might go with down the road. If you end up doing the build, good luck, and let me know if you have any questions!

I've done a very similar build that can be found on this form. It's a lot of work but also do able. in the end you will be in it close to what an used am hull costs considering fx1 hulls are sought after and bring some $$$$ and that's fine if you really like the quirks of the fx1. Mine is a fun mess around lake ski and okay at everything but great at nothing. If you want to flat water backflip get a shorter wider hull. If you want to ride surf get a hull with lots of rocker and a big tray. If you do build it defiantly do NOT do a scupper and front exhaust.

Update: My Laserjet is expected to sell this Thursday, I have a guy who has offered me cash deal so I'm taking it. Then I will order parts. I know a lot of you think its best to just go to an Aftermarket hull, (which is the plan eventually down the road). However, I would rather have a built up ski with a solid motor and interchangeable parts that i can eventually swap into a hull. Also I love building/working on projects like this. (I'll probably regret this after starting the fiberglass work lol)

Got all the sanding done in the engine bay. Sanded off about 2 pounds of excess glue. Going to go ahead and reinforce everything while I'm doing the rocker kit.
