Few questions about my fx-1 build. Im trying to cut my hood down to run the pole through the hood like ive seen a few times.

Anyone have the dimensions or detailed pics?

Also I ran a stock –2 sj pole on my old one, is that the same length as a standard fx-1 pole? I’m 5’9

If I put a lowered bracket on it should I just run a standard length pole for freestyle since they are already shorter?

Any other info on running a freestyle fx-1 would be great, Thoughts and opinions please?

NO! the shorter and lower the better! my REV steering setup is -7.5!!!!

Any other info on running a freestyle fx-1 would be great, Thoughts and opinions please?

If you look into Slugs build he actually lowered the bracket mount area before channeling the hood. Even with a lower bracket I dont think channeling the hood is going to drop the pole down as far as you may be expecting

it was cavvin' like a mofo...got that fixed and havent been on a lake since!

this is an x/x motor...they make for GREAT surf motors,....Makes great bottom end, but keep in mind the FX is held back by its mini-pump



the pipe is a FPP B mod, but its a little different than the rest....I will NEVER EVER EVER sell this pipe....at one time or another it has been in every one of my standups..

look at the headpipe....NO adjustment screws...you have to tune this one with restrictors....PITA at first, but once dialed in Ive never had a better running pipe..here's a better pic of it

I could be mistaken but I believe the kawi pump will weigh less and give you the performance you seek. That said Ill be using a bored out 144mm at first anyway

Measurements? Send it to Bonzi Bob and get yourself a bolt in pump with no hull mods needed.
However, I changed out my pump shoe with the SJ shoe when I did the conversion.

As for a pole, from a stock FX, My pole is -3 (-5 from a SJ) with the Blowsion short turn plate and Blowsion lowered bracket, and I love it. But I'm also 6' 2"

As for channeling the hood, not worth it IMO. In a SJ there is a lot of extra space, in the FX the hood is alredy low. Too much time.

If you are changing out the bracket for a lowered one, and are eliminating the purple "cowel" cover, I would fill in the indentations. Looks more finished that way. (see pic)

Throw some tubbies on that thing!!

The only drawback I see to the bolt in pump is no change to the intake tract?! What good is a big pump you cant feed. My vote therefore would be to doyour own conversion with the kawi pump and enlarge the intake tract while your there I believe specialfx ( I think) had a thread on this. Best of both worlds on a budget! I mention this only due to your gun ho atitude to fiberglass work and as long as your at it anyway Right?!

idok, that there gas tank in your fx1 sure looks like a sj gas tank ???

how did you get it to fit with those wonderful "glued" in battery box + gas tank strap mount's ???

And that boat has remnants of ground "ribs". Sj-Sn?

Idoc, Also, how do you adjust the water flow into the head pipe? Jets in the hose or fitting?
