ok heres my problem... i bought the hull already started. he had done some work to fit the 144mm and fiberglassed in the bolt holes. so i will have to get good meassurements to redo the fiberglass and fit a pump. so a bolt in one wont really be worth the money. i may still do it im just between a rock and a hard place. thanks:hitwithrock:

Use a 144 then if half the work is already done! I defintitely would not want you to think the bolt in options are no good. I was once considering the same thing but chose not to for the intake tract reason. Just my opinion. But I suggest talking with some others that have used the bolt in. See if they enlarged the intake area or not and if not do they wish they had? Once again I say this because you dont seem nervous about glasswork and you are already there. Imnot the whiz with glass that some are lol I bought one pretty much done so I cant be of much help there.

idok, you may get some flack about putting a sn pic in the fx1 section !!! HA HA HA

i got a sn tank, and am looking into that upgrade for my fx1, if i dont decide to sell it 1st.

if the weather would get a bit more enjoyable (40' for a high) in pdx the last 2 weeks, i might be able to get out and get wet.

As I stated in a previous post, I put in the SJ pump shoe and enlarged the intake area. I really think adding the SJ pump shoe is a must with a bigger pump, and it is really east to do.

Hey Eddie...That looks really good. What did you end up using for a scoop grate? Did you have to move the fwd mount like Chris did from ATP?(the killer FX project from across the pond).

X-metal makes a killer "thin" pole.
I'm running a modded FX1 Jet Dynamics grate right now. However,I recently cut the complete pump shoe out of a SN and plan to graft it in over the winter months so I have a complte SJ pump tract.

Is this the pole in the pic?

Cool pics LBE.

The Kawi 750 pump pics you posted were what served as the inspiration for my 650 pump mod. I was on the same path for the bearing housing with using a intermediate plate to convert from the Yami 3 bolt bulkhead to the Kawi 4 bolt housing. I'm not sure how this worked out for the ski pictured, but when I laid it out it seemed to moved the Kawi bearing/seals too far forward on the shaft to have the seals reliably ride on the polished part of the shaft. I ended up tossing that idea and put the Kawi housing inside a stock Yami housing and it lets the housing bolt up just like a stock Yami but puts the Kawi bearing/seals at sweet spot on the shaft.

I used the Kawi 650 pump to keep from having to create a pump shoe and by dumb luck it also lets the FX scoop grate bolt right up without mods.....I'd rather be lucky than good!

Here's my version of those pics:

Your intermedite housing set up looks clean. I have collected these pics arround the boards for the past couple years trying to figue out what I wanted to do.

So let me get this straight.. I can pickup a yami 144mm and send it bonzai and he'll do his thing, I'll then get back a BOLT IN pump for my fx-1? No fiberglass work? I wanna do this mod badly but my fx is in almost new shape and I'd hate to tear it up.

It will bolt in with the FX1 pump shoe. You can do a fairly easy mod to enlarge that pump shoe, or you can do a not quite so easy, but not too hard mod and replace the FX1 pump shoe with a SJ pump shoe. The SJ pump shoe is obviously larger diameter. If you go with the SJ pump shoe, you then have to go with SJ intake and grate. It is possible to enlarge the FX1 pump shoe to 144 mm, but you will have to reglass around it.

Gotcha! I was reading their entire build thread after I posted that, makes sense and is for sure a great offer.. Odd duck have you done it to yours?

Yep, thanks to Bonzia Bob!

Well worth it, I should add. A mod that can't be beat for getting that boat out of the water.
