fx-1 pricing?

Oh boy. This sounds like a really great situation. Well based on the story I would say hit him with 1300 cash on the spot. No more than 1500. If need be take pictures when you get there and text them to someone and get a second opinion. Depending on when you meet him you can shoot me the pics and I can usually reply pretty quick.

he mentioned 4 times that he wouldn't take a penny less than 1700. It was also mentioned that he is selling a corvette on Friday so if I don't buy it tomorrow then the money he gets from the vette will cover whatever he needs to cover financially. This has literally been the sketchiest CL encounter I have had. If he hadn't told me so many bad things about the ski I would think he would be trying to rob me, but why go to all of that trouble to try and talk me out of going? I so just wish I had pictures

Bring a scale if you are concerned - you can weigh it vs. the listed weight... but it's an old Yamaha, it'll have water in it.

OK, I'll play devil's advocate here... sketchy sellers aside, WHY do you want a FX1? (here come the flames). Have you ridden one? Has your wife ridden one? Do you like how a kawi 550 rides? It is an athletic ride, not the stability and ease of riding that you get with a SJ. Is that what the wife wants?

I think the FX1 is a love-or-"it's OK" ski. There are a core group of riders that swear by them (once you change out the pump). But I'd say they are a hardcore minority. It has some nostalgic value as being a rare ski that Yam only made for 2 years? Basically a 550 handing with a power and reliability of a Yamaha 701. Was meant to be the slalom/freestyle king back in the SN racing days. Very light, very agile and I have mad respect for the FX mafia guys who shred them in the surf. It is a REAL Rider's ski, old-school- a throwback, no training wheels! LOL!

Is that what you're after?
(again - I'm sure the FX fanatics are gonna hate on me now) but I just wanted to make sure you are aware of what it is you're looking for.

FWIW, I don't love or hate the FX-1. No desire to own one though. I rode one of Tricky's once that did over 60mph - holy chit!!!! hang on! Dancing on marbles!!!

Sounds like you nailed the FX1, RMBC - they aren't for everyone, my wife didn't like hers, but I loved it. I wish I had room for all the skis that I love though...

FX1 gone.

I'll be replacing my stock fx1 ride plate in a couple weeks here when I do my build, I might be interested in selling the stocker.

Btw I bought my fx1 towards the end of summer last year 9/10 condition with ac pole for 1500. Coming from riding a stock kawi 650sx, the difference is incredible.

Why not just repair the stock plate with a weld and grind. Obviously you havent seen it yet since he cant send photos but its an option if its just a crack and not all bent up

RMBC, I am intrigued by them. I haven't ridden one, don't know anyone who has one, so what better way to experience one than to buy one :). I love the looks of them. Plus I would rather have that as a second ski than my 650sx. If I decide I don't like the way they ride im sure I can always sell whichever one I end up buying.

To all, I brought a buddy and a gun. It was sketchy The warehouse we met in was clearly a chop shop, he was smoking crack right in front of us, the ride plate he had was off of a superjet (obviously wasnt on the ski) and it wasn't cracked so I don't know where he got that info and for some reason he thought it could be modified, he also didn't realize (or thought I wouldnt) that it also didn't have an intake grate, the hull of the ski was in ok shape but could in no way be labeled as pristine, The small damaged area he spoke of actually wasn't as bad as I thought but wasn't as good as he led on, the engine ran good, and he "got it" from California 2 or 3 years ago.
