Other FX...Something

First week of school behind me, decks are bonded. The back end was tricky, the decks are very different in the last 12 inches. The SJ tunnel happens to lie perfectly flat with the top of the FX tray, though. SJ tank fits like a glove, no interference. I built the outer bond rail back up to it's normal thickness as well, and added some 1708 to the front for good measure (no lip there, SN has to be cut flat).

Bathroom scale calls it 85lbs with pump shoe/plumbing/drain plugs/SS bow eye. Before bonding, the SN bottom was 55lbs and the FX top was 21. I cut up the stock exhaust tube to clear the footholds, ran stainless cooling lines, siphon, trim, and steering. Stuffed both decks with couch foam and bonded. I think the foam made a big difference, its very light. The FX1 hood shows 11lbs, so around 100lbs ready to bolt everything in. I have some epoxy left, so I'm going to beef it up a bit. The bottom is also shortened by 100mm ( I like the way my current -4 rides a lot!). The same bathroom scale shows a bare 91 SN (no hood) weighing 130lbs.

Nothing to see here folks, just another kid with bigger dreams than he has the skills for, ha! Waiting on turf for....2 weeks now...still no ship notification. Mocked everything up in the meantime, looks like its all going to fit no problem.

Nothing crazy cool going on here, but it should be a pretty well-rounded budget ride.

185psi 62T/61X @ 710cc with mod pipe, enhancer, #zero flywheel, stock 38's, 760 reeds
Riva scoop, -4 hull, chopped stock rideplate, and 144 with solas 14/18 and protec nozzle. Gonna see if my tom21 FX1 sponsons will fit the SJ hull.

I also went back to straight bars for awhile, risers just didn't feel very good. It felt like I was having to work harder to get leverage since my hands end up higher than where the force is applied through the pole (if that makes any sense). They do get the pole lower, but I already slap the hood with the pole running flat bars so I don't really see the advantage at this point. Ride time may change my mind though.

Your tellin me! Ive been in a foul mood ever since summer school started in June. Havent had much lake time at all this year. This coming weekend is my birthday, during which I plan to spend the entire time ripping this thing. Ill rip the turf off another hull and glue it down if I have to. Who needs a pretty paintjob. :brap:

Man I am tired. Im poor and the only power tools I own are a $30 palm sander and a dremmel. I've done this whole thing with hand tools including chopping and separating decks. NO MORE! lol.

Anyway, chopped a stock plate up into something I hope will balance well for freeride and freestyle.

Wet paint! Love the rust-o-roller method. Roll some paint over the bad spots and it blends in perfect with the year old paint.

Gotta be done by tomorrow night. Leaving for Austin Thursday. Still no turf, so looks like its gonna be band-aided with old turf for now!

Hydroturf!

Finally managed to do a half-decent turf job. I always forget to leave extra around the back though, dangit. I stumbled upon the turf thread with cutouts so I decided to try my hand at it. I did my initials on the front of the tray with some extra white I had. It took a long time because I was really meticulous with the cuts, but otherwise it was really easy! I water tested without turf and I'd be lying if I said it felt much lighter than the SN i was on previously, but it certainly looks better and rides great!!

The only real bummer was the cut groove white diamonds aren't the same size as the molded diamonds on the black, so they'll never line up perfectly.

And a little "tooling" around with some stuff headed this ski's way :wiggle:

EDIT: Oh, and I lost my fuel selector knob on the first ride. lol....drats.

Thanks! Glad someone likes it hahaha

I've been calling it the super-fx, and the whole lettering thing got me thinking. (Yes I realize it is XFS backwards, im just not creative OK!)

Someone take away my knife before the whole ski is coated with turf!

Thanks! I dropped it in a pond today and ran it for a few hours. It rides a lot like a shortened superjet lol. Im really at home with the FX1 pole mount location, so that was a major plus over the SN hull. It was pretty odd to feel some real hookup with an FX underneath me but I loved it!

I am kind of worried that my tuning is way off, though. I pulled my head and the rear piston looked perfect, but the front was completely washed clean. The engine will fire right up even after sitting for a week, so Im wondering if maybe my front cylinder is way rich. It feels like it has great power though, so idk.... Need more water time.
