Now see, that doesn't actually help. That's just a tease. You don't want to get a rep as a tease, do you?

Corian solid surface counter top material..those were made out of scraps but if that was a new sheet made at full price it would be mucho $..like 500$

Huh, makes sense, machines nice a smooth, sturdy, cheap if you're using scraps. I know a few plumbers, I bet they could lay their hands on some scraps. I also have a buddy that's a whiz with fiberglass. I'm seeing some potential, here. How many people want FX1 front sponsons?

Wyd, can you please find Skinnyman for me and pass on some techniques? He'll be out there somewhere this weekend.

you need specialezed tools (basically a special caulking gun) you need to be a dealer to get it..plus the glue is 80$ a tube..also dont forget dangerboy has a full blown machine shop at his disposal so thats how he made all those nice cuts

This was more an learning experience in Vacuum bagging for me

I had some open machine time to cut the mold, and Wydopen had the material for the mold, even with that the fiberglass/ form and epoxy still cost plenty

but custom perfectly symmetrical tubbies was worth the learning experience and the knowledge gained will be usefull on my next fx-1 project :147:

I used some material I got from Farco plastics, its a white color, thermoformable also ,heat it up to 150 degrees shape it and and it retains that shape,it also sands easily and resin will not affect it at all.I use it a lot as a core material for smc and FRP repairs,it glues up nicely with epoxy resin.

^^^^ That green looks killer! Great thread going on here.

Where do you guys get that Blue foam? Thanks! Im gona go check out the local craft store now.

Sorry, You probably wont find it in craft stores. Try a local (for you in FL) boat material / resin supplier. What it is called is Divinycell foam. Used for building custom boat parts and for some aircraft stuff. 4' x 8' sheets are the standard size. Get ready $$. :booty:

Jamestown Distributors is carrying that product now,it is available in scored or non scored sheets and is truck shipped only and yes it is expensive.

Did you guys find the sacred "blue" foam yet? :ponder:

Here's a couple of boring pix... more tubbie stuff...The scratches/gouges are from close encounters with mussels on the sod banks-fast creek rides.

BTW...thanks for the sticker, Nick!

I talked to the guy at Farco plastics today he said the name of the product I am using is foam pvc,it comes in 1/4 and 1/2 inch thicknesses and is easily cut with any kind of saw,its also thermoformable at about 150 degrees well within heat gun range.Epoxy or poly resin does not affect it.
