FX-1 FX1 144mm pump steering nozzle

Completed the 144mm pump swap on my fx1, I have been using what I think is an X2 steering nozzle, turns great but I noticed alot of water is being pushed around the nozzle and not going through it. What steering nozzle are most people running on a 144mm fx1?

I use a Pro-Tec compression and steering nozzle. Works great. I did shorten mine by 3/4" - personal preference.

The protec will hit the ride plate too. Tom21 made me a custom plate with a slight recess to clear the pump with no shims. You can also grind a JD plate to fit, but I didn't like the JD feel.

I ground my Protec out.. You could also look for a pump wedge shim to angle the nozzle slightly up to clear and steer

Nice, i had to grind my protec plate alot more then you, i actually have a hole in the middle of the plate for pump and i still had to use a washer on the ride plate bolts, did you grind the bottom of your pump?

I'm in the middle of my pump swap and have fitted it with the stock FX1 nozzle but haven't ridden it yet. Could someone tell me what the ride difference will be between the smaller, longer fx nozzle and the fatter, shorter 144 nozzle? Also, can a bilge suction tube be welded in to the reduction nozzle? Or is there too much pressure going on there and Id be better off just welding up another nozzle with the factory tube in it?
