FX-1 Fx1 falls flat at full throttle

so sunday at Oceanside my ski ran great all morning and then when i went to punch it through a wave it fell on its face? it would run 1/4 throttle fine until i would got on it. so i shut it down, then fired it up and i was all good for about another hour. on my way back to the harbor it did it again. any ideas??

i changed the plugs from the B9HS back to the stock B8HS, (cooler vs hotter plug) could this have done it?? is the higher number on the plug the cooler it burns? or opposite?
is this a carb issue?? rebuild or adjustment??
fuel pick up??
is there an over heat sensor?

Thanks guys

Whatever you've done to your post its nearly impossible to read.

Sounds like the carb is leaning out. Fuel Filter, dirty carb etc would be my guess.

if your carb is starving for fuel, you can shut off for a minute and it will fire up and run right for a few minutes, because the carb has refilled with fuel. have you ever cleaned the little filter screen on the fuel pump side of your carb? that could be the problem. if you want to see if it's the overheat sensor, just remove it from the head and wedge it somewhere were it's away from the motor. the sensor closes the switch when it triggers, so you can cut either or both wires.

so replaced the external filter (all gunked up). rebuilt the carb which was missing one of the gaskets thats mounts to intake manifold. and the internal filter was clogged to the max. it looked like it was clogged with cat hair! surprised it ran as good as it did. but now when i fire it up she idles real high. unsure on where to go from here. i was thinking about setting the high/low's back to normal (if they aren't already).

Awesome!
I thought that stuff in my internal filter looked like belly button lint. I wonder if it's fibers from the inside of the tanks at gas stations.
