I imagine that new BOB 3ride will be kickace in surf
Ehhh, it was alright. I rode their prototype and gave my feedback. I know they are tweaking and making changes and it's said it will be at world finals. Though, it's hard to test a surf hull in flat water. Only time will tell.
the all white foot rocket is Stanton High's, I rode it a couple weeks ago at pismo, I liked it
fearmywrx rode the 3ride at surf slam, you could pm him, I'm sure others rode it as well
I was actually the only person to ride the 3ride at Surf Slam (aside from one of the ski clinic guys) before the nozzle broke. The top bolt fell out of the steering nozzle then completely broke off when I did a roll.
Rode the foot rocket and was really impressed as were just about everyone else that I rode with.
What about the JB1? how much smaller is the footrocket that it?, just found krash industries website..
The foot rocket is shorter than the JB1. But the foot rocket has different tail plates that you can put on it to adjust the length. The foot rocket is geared more towards flat water and smaller surf while the JB1 is a "surf boat" but I've seen it flat water flipped 800cc ish power. Im sure if the talent is there, you could do it with less.
As far as length of the JB1, it's one inch shorter than the XFR which is a couple inches shorter than the FR2 which is shorter than the superjet. I believe the Footrocket is 5 inches shorter than the Footrocket but not 100 percent sure. Like I said, the foot rocket has the adjustably to be longer with the tail plates. Even with a tail plate or hull extensions, it won't quite act the same as a longer ski but simulates it quite well.
Im actually in the Market for a JB1. The foot rocket was fun and Im sure I'd enjoy it but I like having a little substance and length behind the boat to assist with surf slashes and surf riding.
I've ridden just about every aftermarket hull (rickters, super freaks, eme's, lightweight, bob ect.) with exception to some of these newer hulls (rok-r, eme micro, new super freak circus) and so far the foot rocket has been my favorite. I like surf riding and doing ariels, not so much just flat water flips. So my liking and tastes are a little different than others.
After riding the Footrocket, I feel I'd like the JB1 even more because its a little longer but also nimble. I found myself over rotating flips with the foot rocket so I am sure the JB1 would do just fine. I feel if I can comfortably flip/roll on a stock length SJ then I shouldn't have an issue doing it on a JB1, I don't need it to be super short in order to pull off those maneuvers.
I am not claiming to be the best rider or anywhere close to. Im an average Joe that had the balls and motivation to try. After good instruction and practice I was able to pull these things off. Thanks Zack/Jake Bright, John H (227), and Matt Smith for helping me out learning.
In essence and to get back on Subject. I'd prob stay way from the G2/G3 for surf and go with a different aftermarket hull if you plan on riding surf frequently as they are purpose built for that. The JB1 and Footrocket along with many other aftermarket hulls are a good example of this.
As far as the 3ride by the ski clinic, it's really too early to tell but after they are introduced to the market, time will tell.
PM me if you have any questions! And if your ordering soon. Barton offers discounts for multiple hulls ordered. I'd like to be a part of that if at all possible.
